Madison area reception - Bring own food

Hello All

After looking at prices at hotels for food and alcohol, my fiancé and I were shocked at prices.  We are looking to do an hor de vour reception or a dessert reception.

Does anyone have any suggestions or a place were we could bring in our own food?  (My good friend and my pastor's wife both work in food service and are willing to make food)

Or

Does anyone know a place that has cheaper prices?  Most places have outrageous minimums considering we just want a bit of food.

We are looking to try to do our reception in or near a hotel so people do not need to drive.

Any and all thoughts or suggestions welcome... (although I am not on that often so it may take me a bit to respond)

I know at the Masonic Center you can bring in your own desserts...but I would have to look up the cost of using the center itself.
I updated my bio on 06/24/10, however if you want to see my planning bio you have to go to www.lizardlipsplanningbio.weebly.com because I am having a hard time making it clicky!

does your church have a room you can use?

i know some brides from other boards get married upstairs and then downstairs is a community room where they have the reception - you would just need to see what restrictions the church may have

maybe a nursery since they have the plants you might be able to get married there?

We are getting married on Friday at a Nature Center and are having the reception on Saturday, so the Church idea is a no go - as we do not have one.

I will look into the Masonic Center

There is a Jewish Community center in Verona where you can bring in your own food, and the rental cost was very low.  You could also look into renting the Olin Turville Park Pavillion.

Turner Hall in Madison off Hwy 51 allows you to bring in your own food as well and is pretty cheap. We originally looked at there but ended up going with another place but were impressed with them.

I forgot to mention that they do have deals with some local hotels around it  like Sleep Inn and Country Inn and Suites
