CAKE!

It's going to be the end of me!!!
I have an obsession with cupcakes. To the point it could be excessive. Well, I found this baker who makes not just cupcakes but French Macarons...my new obsession. Well, she makes said macarons in a custom dessert package with CUPCAKES! And cake pops and ombre cookies...it's just amazing stuff.

Since the day I saw her signature packages I've been hooked on having it at our wedding. See this, but black and white! Ahh it makes me so excited to just think of it!

Now, my wedding venue is all inclusive. I get $700 towards a cake at their baker OR $500 towards any baker of my choice (!!!!).
Her packages come for 50 people (perfect for my wedding) or 100 (still in my budget of $500, but lots of extra goodies for my guests). Now, my dilemma...

It's min cupcakes. To upgrade to full size, it'd be $1 each. So, I'm thinking of doing full size cupcakes but the package for 50 people. All seems well in the world. But, she is really suggesting doing a normal size cake AND the package for 50 instead of cupcakes. Problem is, I think $2/slice to cut cake is a joke. Plus, it's $100 for set up, delivery and rental of the plates from her.

Thoughts??? Ideas??? Suggestions?! Anything??
What would you do?

Here's another picture of her stuff, just because it's SO stinkin' cute!

Re: CAKE!

  • That all looks AMAZZZINNGGG.  I'd do the cupcake upgrade.  I know some wedding traditionalists can get all fired up about no "real" cake, but if that's not you or your FI then who cares?  I like cupcakes better myself.  I wouldn't do the 100 package; I usually get so full at weddings that even if the deserts are amazing I barely have room for one serving.
  • So cute! I agree with Xstatic333, if a traditional cake is not your thing go for the cupcake upgrade :) I love a cupcake!  I would just make sure you use every bit of your $500 credit from your venue, even if it is extra goodies for your guests, you could always have some cute take home containers.
  • I agree with the PPS, go with the cupcakes! It sounds like that is what you really really want and seems to be within your budget and the guests will have plenty of sweets to choose from.

  • It all looks beautiful. Go with the cupcakes! =)
Take home boxes are a good idea too.

  • Cake update:

We tried the other bakery (the one that comes with the venue) this weekend the cake was really good. And, they can do cheesecake (FI's fave) as well as cupcakes.
We're waiting until they have an order for cheesecake so we can go in and try it, but we may be going with this baker.

As much as I really love the dessert tables I showed in my original post, she is really bad at getting back to me. I know I have a million questions and back and forth emails aren't always fun, but she really isn't being very helpful.
