Hotel shuttles and other transportation

I'd like to start looking into transportation for the wedding-- both limos etc for the bridal party, and hotel shuttles for guests. I can figure out what the BP will need, but how did you figure out what size shuttles you will need to get people from the hotel to reception and back? I know I'll have a clear number a month before the wedding, but I don't think I should wait that long. So...

1) How far in advance did you book transportation?
2) How did you figure out how big of a shuttle/bus/trolley you would need?
3) Any recommendations for transportation companies in or near Falmouth (I know it's been asked before, but since I'm begging for answers to the others, why not ask again?)

We have 3 hotels to pick up at but all are in downtown Falmouth and the venue is only about 15 minutes away. Some guests will be staying in rental houses and the like and will figure out their own transportation.

I don't know the answers to your questions unfortunately, but would love to find out the answers especially about pricing . . .  this would be a great service to provide guests.

I talked with Cape Destinations about my sister's wedding. They were great with helping me help her decide what she needed!

Katiesmoh-- I like your screen name :) Can you guess how I came up with mine... while I was helping my sister plan her wedding?

Since you won't really know how many people will need the shuttle until close to the wedding...and obviously way later than you would want to book...I did what White Tie Limo (http://www.whitetielimo.com/fleet.htm) calls a minibus.  It fits 29 people.  Because my reception and hotel are about 10 minutes apart, I figured the worst case scenario would be that the shuttle would have to do more than one run between places.  For six hours, it is costing $742.50.

The alternative would've been a coach bus....but I didn't want to go too big and spend too much if not a lot of people were going to use the service.

arez, thanks for the info. We were just talking about that tonight, doing two runs. That price isn't bad. I guess I'll give White Tie a call.

You also might want to try a valet service if the reception site is big enough to park all of the cars. I have seen a valet company located in Centerville (www.capecodgsa.com) that parked a wedding reception in Falmouth (Snug Harbor) that were fantastic, I believe if I read there website correctly they also parked the Well Wed event at Ocean Edge. I would bet that they would probably be cheaper than hiring shuttle buses.

    Good Luck
