So per the MBA post, not only did I get a degree in biology, but I love biology. But it's hard to make a living at it, so here I am. DH's undergrad degree was biochem, so we both believe in raising a scientifically literate kid.
Per the Halloween post, DD was a butterfly this year. Due to the fundies, her school doesn't do costumes on Halloween, they have "book character costume day" the Friday before Halloween. w/e So we let her choose what she wants to be and then find a corresponding book. We ended up with a couple of really excellent books on butterflies.
Last night, we were reading this book I hate. When we got to the part where (spoiler alert) the butterfly supposedly emerges from a cocoon, the Wooz stopped, looked at me, and finally said "Mommy, this book is silly. Butterflies don't build a cocoon. Moths build cocoons. A butterfly builds a chrysalis." I hugged her like Miss America hugs the runners up when they announce the winner.
