Pet Peeves??

Alright ladies, what are a few of your pet peeves? Last week a coworker told me that I have quite a few, and that's probably true. However, I think I only have more because stupid people tend to be over-populating these days. So, here's a few of mine:

-People who respond to your question, but don't ever really answer it.
-People(mainly at work) who tell me something then tell me not to tell so-and-so. This isn't 5th grade..
-People who acknowledge that you're on the phone, then continue to talk to you anyway. uh...kind of busy here....

Stop lights with no sensors. I get rage when there are no cars coming the other way and I'm still waiting. When H doesn't hang up the towels and throws them on the vanity. An unmade bed. Voicemails. I hate them and never check them. Just send me a text. I'll add more later. :-)

-People who tailgate (if you tailgate me, especially when you can just get in a lane further left and pass me, I will tap my brakes. And when/if you finally pass me, I will flip you off). -People who text while driving (especially now that I was rear-ended in July by a 19-year-old girl while I was at a complete stop and she was doing about 30. I even had the kiddos I nanny in the back seat. Luckily we were fine, but put your freakin phone down and drive before you kill or seriously hurt someone)! -My FI taking his clothes off wherever, and leaving it there. -People who use the wrong form of a word (e.g. there, their, they're). And people who say "aks" instead of "ask" or "exspecially" instead of "especially." -People who don't tip, or leave a crappy tip. As a former Olive Garden server who made about $3/hour, I'd like to say "eff you!" to every customer who stiffed me, or ordered the soup-and-salad or endless pasta bowl, and only left me $1-2. Sorry, it may not cost as much as the seafood alfredo, but your server is working 10x harder running back and forth to refill everything. If you can't afford to tip, then you can't afford to eat at a sit-down restaurant. Go to McDonalds.

Slow drivers in the fast lane.  I mean move over already!!!

People who smack gum.  It makes my skin crawl.

People with no manners.  Please and Thank you will go a long way with me.

When people wear those pants that you can see their underware.  ARG it goes under your clothes people!! I just want to tell them to pull up their pants instead of holding the crotch to keep them up.

try to stay positive and not dwell on things that annoy me, but I am only human.
    -        In construction zones, the people that get into the lane that is closing in 2 miles just to zoom ahead of everyone else, I don’t know if it is the law other places but here at ½ mile you have to get out of the lane that is closing.
    -        People that talk too much about their personal life at work, I don’t really want to know your 11 year old daughter’s bra size...
    -        Girls that are hot messes when they are drunk, it is a fine line between having a good time and just being sloppy.
    -        The moment you switch the light on and the bulb burns out. I have had that happen 3 times this week in 3 different lights around my apartment.

Hike, I feel the same way about voicemails.  I let my mailbox fill up - FI has started listening to my voicemails for me and telling me the important ones.  Thank goodness!  It doesn't help that the first 4 currently are from my crazy boss the night he went nuts and called 15 times between 10pm-12am, so I want to keep those until he's gone for good just in case I need a record of his level of crazy.

Amanda, I was that sloppy mess on Saturday.  I felt like a fool on Sunday!

FI leaving the seat up on the toilet.  Constantly.  I started with jokingly reminding him, then I started getting annoyed, and now I'm bribing him.  That's right - if I don't find a single toilet seat left up for 10 days, he gets a special prize.  So far, so good - we're on Day 3.  Seriously should have thought of this earlier!

Passive aggressive behavior.  If someone doesn't tell me what their problem is, it isn't my responsibility to guess or try to find out.  Man up and deal with your issues like an adult - respectfully and directly.

Miami.  Just in general.  It sucks.  Though the weather has been quite nice, so that's a plus.

Making phone calls.  I hate the phone, except to chat with family and friends.  I hate making calls for work.  Sadly, it's about 1/2 my job right now.  Gah!  37 weeks and counting...

-I agree with the voicemails Hike.. They drive me crazy.. Especially when they are "hey, it's Jon... call me back" uhhh... ok.. I have your number... So I know it was you and you probably want me to call you back by seeing the "missed call from Jon" on my phone.. You had nothingmore to say in a minute long voicemail?

No bad decisions, but some funny moments.  And one awful hangover on Sunday.  I apparently tried to hold a friend up for a keg stand, and toppled him over (he is okay, but I feel awful - he was equally drunk).  And then I was making out with FI, and one of our friends kept jokingly trying to sit on his lap, so I kept biting him on the shoulder (the friend, not FI).  Apparently I laid down somewhere outside because I have little barbed thorns all over my jeans that didn't come out in the wash so I have to pick out one by one.

    Driving:
-People in the left lane who don't move over when someone is behind them.  If someone wants to go faster than you, you need to move the eff over.  Even if you think you're going "fast enough" at 65 in a 60, someone behind you clearly doesn't agree, so move.

-People who drive in the HOV lane simply because they can.  The point of that lane is to move faster than regular traffic, so if you're going slower or just with the flow of traffic, then get the eff out.

-People who slam on their brakes on an on-ramp to the highway because they are trying to find a spot on.  Speed up to the flow of traffic and you'll make your way in.  75% of traffic jams are caused by people who don't know how to merge.

    Phone:
-I third the voicemail crap on my personal phone.  I don't mind if they are actually telling me something, but I can't stand the ones that are "hey, it's your MIL, call me back."  I can see it's you from caller id, and can take a good guess that if you're calling me, you would want me to call you back.

-People who call my work phone, get to vm, and just hang up and repeatedly call back.  If I didn't answer, it was for a reason, which is usually that I'm on the other line.  When you repeatedly call back 3 times within 2 minutes you just completely piss me off, and it makes me never want to answer your call.

-People who leave a vm, but still just hang up and call right back.  Give me a freaking chance to listen to your message and call you back in that 5 minutes.

    Military:
-People who blame their branch and command for their own personal mistakes.  For example, one wife just set up her move to a house that they weren't approved yet to rent, and told her apartment she would be out by a certain date.  She was mother effing the Navy and command all over FB because they didn't get the house they wanted, so their move was set up somewhere they weren't going to live, and they had to be out of their apt. soon.  But it was the Navy's fault because they were gone on an underway and email was down, so she couldn't talk to her H.  No hunny, that's allll your fault for being an idiot.

-Parents who think child care is everyone's responisibility to find but their own.  Whenever the command or FRG puts anything on, the first comment out of people's mouths (or keyboard) is "is childcare provided."  Ok fine if you're just asking to know, but if it's not provided they do nothing but bitch, and say they can't go if they don't have child care.  I know it's a new thing, but there are these people out there called babysitters, and you can pay them to watch your kids for you.  What a revelation!

Hmm, i have a lot, and could probably keep going.  I'll probably be back with more.

I actually have a lot of them, what can I say? I have pants that are judgy.

    A few I'm thinking of:

I'm with Binx on the leaving clothes all over the g-d earth thing. We have a hamper in the bedroom, the bathroom, and the laundry closet off the kitchen. Surely those clothes can be moved to one of those locations, I'm not picky. We live in a 900-ish sq.ft. apartment, there's not that much floor to put stuff on.

I am annoyed with bad tippers, people who have their dogs off-leash in the dog area that is right off the main road to the apartment, people who text me 10 times to get something together when a two-minute phone call would have done the trick, and I'm sure I'll think of more.

Also, people who can't be bothered to use the built-in spell check, I don't love grammatical errors or the whole your/you're thing, but spelling can all be caught with one button. I don't see it a lot on this board, but some of the bigger internationals it's pretty bad.

Oh, this is a fun one!

    Mine would be:
    1) people that don't know how to merge onto the interstate. Every effing day I drive to work, there's one spot that traffic comes to a standstill because people a) don't know how to merge into traffic, or b) people on the interstate are too selfish to give someone space to get in. Seriously, it's not going to kill you to have one more car in front of you.

    2) people who are lazy at work, and then complain/whine/pitch a fit because they get in trouble for doing something they knew wasn't right in the first place. Some of the students I'm working with decided not to go to work one day after our "field trip" to the state mental hospital, after we were specifically told that we were required to report back to our services after that. They didn't, the boss found out, and now they wonder why he hates them. Seriously???

I have more, but don't feel like typing it all out. I might come back and add more later.

Oh beach, you are not going to like driving here on 64 and 264! People use the left lane just because they can. They drive slow and won't move over for you. Or they go ridiculously fast. No one knows how to keep a safe distance between cars. I will be doing 63 in a 55 (both hwys are 55, not 65), in the middle lane (so that cars can get on from the ramps), and someone will be right on my butt, despite the fact that there is space to move to the left lane and pass. I was never an angry driver until moving here.

I admit that used to be me. :( I used to ride people's butts if they were in the wrong lane. (mostly people in the left lane but sometimes people in the center lane), after being driven off the road by a truck and trailer that merged into me (Always check your mirror!!!) I have stopped being so aggressive and I have becoming a terribly cautious driver.

Why yes I do. It's beyond annoying, mostly because I swear people around here don't have a clue how to drive. I've convinced myself that big city traffic would be better than here, because they at least seem to know how to deal with it.

    This is fun!!

When my hair dresser doesn't listen to me.  I mean Yes I have naturally curly hair but I put quite a lot of effort into making it not look like rats nest, but by all means, cut it and then style it that way anyway cause it's easier for you..
Case and Point: This happened today.

When people go really slow, especially at this one stop light that already takes FOREVER, so they take it upon themselves to go as slow as humanly possible.  I had to sit through it 3 times today!!

When I go into work to workout, but can't because the members (and other employees) won't stop talking to me, so then I can't get a good workout in.

Politics.  The Media trying to tell me how to feel about something.

Ditto CAB about the GBCK and coming back like nothing happened..

And ditto Divine on the spell check.  It's free. Use it.

I could probably go on for days and days..

Can I add one? Dog owners who have dogs that run and they let them in their garage with the door open. Second time this month where this small dog ran out of the garage while the family was in it. Ike freaks out when dogs run up to him. So I have to restrain 2 75 pound dogs because the owners aren't responsible. So the lady half walks and runs to get her dog. WTF

Know that before you get into it, and ESPECIALLY STFU military people that think that's an excuse to get rid of a pet. It's not. Find a house at your next station that allows a pet and get over it.

Dog owners in Miami who seem to think their dogs are totally cool a) going into a restaurant with them, b) going into work with them, c) crawling and jumping all over complete strangers, d) pooping on other people's lawns.

We work in a condo building in a side office from a real estate company on the main floor next to the lobby.  There are 3 real estate agents - the one with the yappy little dog who never shuts up and who leaves the leash in the kitchen in front of the microwave, the one with the big hairy dog who sheds everywhere and his hair ends up in the microwave and the fridge, and the excessively loud lady who I think MUST be deaf by how loudly she is constantly speaking.

Oh this is just great! I feel so much more normal now.

The voicemail thing doesn't bother me, only because we knid of have a rule of thumb in my family. If you leave me a voicemail, it must have been important and I'll call you back. No message, no call back. I guess it's because of this I usually don't have too many messages to check.

I'll second the FB pet peeve though. When I see you online and posting, I'm sort of expecting a response to the message I sent you 2 weeks ago.

I'll also second FTL with giving away the pets. I'm so sick of seeing people trying to get rid of their pets because their new house won't allow them. Well you knew you had a pet when you went house hunting so....WTF??? You wouldn't rent a loft apartment with no bedrooms knowing you have 3 kids, right?

My biggest one right now is talking down to people. I never understood why some people feel the need to make others feel like crap. It doesn't matter if you put LOL after it or say you're just joking. It was rude and hurtful. and it made me feel bad for the person you were talking to.

OMFG I can't believe I thought of my BIGGEST grammar pet peeve!!!

    alot <----- NOT A WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a lot   <--- two words, meaning many, "a bunch of" , etc.
allot <----- One word meaning to grant/give something. "she was given her allotment from the bank."
