Help! Desperately Seeking Wisdom...

So, the wedding is in 7 months.  Plenty of time, in theory, but it all seems to be moving so quickly!  I'm having a couple of issues...
According to the checklist, I'm supposed to already have a block of hotel rooms reserved for our out-of-town guests.  Problem is, we don't know which hotel to choose!  Our wedding is in Parker, CO (southeast of
Denver), but we'd hate to stick people there for the entire weekend because most of our guests have never been here.  However, if we put them in Denver, it's further to the wedding and rehearsal.  Has anybody else encountered a problem like this?  What did you do???
Secondly, I'm having second thoughts about our reception menu.  We're having a late morning wedding... too late for breakfast, but too early for lunch.  Solution?  Brunch!  When I asked the caterer for a brunch menu, it's ALL breakfast food (eggs, breakfast meats, french toast, etc.), which FI LOVES.  So now I have a happy groom, but I'm worried about having unhappy guests who may be expecting something a little more, I don't know, lunch-y?  Is it weird to serve breakfast food at an
11:00 am reception?  Both FI and I are huge breakfast food people, so it IS fitting, but...

I think the breakfast food is fine.  Especially if its a reflection of you and your FI's style/interests, I wouldn't sweat it.  As long as people are going to eat before noon, if your reception starts at 11:00 and you eat right away people won't side eye you.

Have you thought about putting people in the Tech Center? They are kind of between Denver and Parker.  You could put them at Lincoln and I-25 so they can light rail it and still get to the wedding?
Although they are coming into town for YOUR wedding, so I think the point of booking a hotel is a good place to stay when attending your wedding, not a weekend vacation.  If people want to sight see they can figure it out.
OR, you could do a block downtown AND a block by the venue and just let people choose, or a block at one and then just recommend another so the guests know what to expect?

I'd say don't worry about brunch! Most people would expect that at such a time, and would enjoy the change of pace. I'm sure there may be a couple people who might raise their brows, but who cares! Some people are critical of anything :)

And as for the hotel, I agree with the PP. Block near the venue; if they want to extend or go do other things, list suggestions on your website, but let your energies go into more useful things :)

Where in Parker are you getting married?  I live in Parker.

I blocked rooms at the Marriott on I25 and Lincoln.  They are very easy to work with.  They pretty much cater to business groups during the week and don't do much business on the weekend, so they were VERY reasonable for a block of rooms for a weekend wedding.

Like the post above said, they can always light rail it into dwntwn!  Plus Park Meadows Mall is right there.

    Good luck!

you could also put people in south aurora...it's north aurora that's pretty bad...somewhere around Arapaho and I-25 or Parker road..?

but considering your wedding is in the summer time, the weather will be nice for drives anyway and really if people  are coming out here they are probably going to want to go to the mountains so maybe a location where it would be fairly easy to do that

plus, breakfast food yum! but you might want to have lots of options for everyone. you could have finger sandwiches or salads too, something simple!

Heywhitney, we're getting married at the Black Bear Golf Club.  Absolutely beautiful grounds and incredibly affordable!  Where are you getting married?  Looks like we're only one week apart.  Smile

Does anybody have experience with hotel blocks in the Cherry Creek area?  FI's parents are coming in for 10 days around the wedding, so he'd like for the hotel to be near our house.

Sakana, good call on the salads!  I should ask if they can incorporate that into the menu... (don't know why I didn't think of it.  I'm a vegetarian).  Embarassed

Awesome!  I looked at Black Bear too!  If we hadn't fallen in love with Arrowhead that is who I was going to book with!  I loved the outdoor ceremony space.  Congrats!
