Short Wedding Dress

Getting married for the second time this December. It's his first wedding and he wants to wear a suit instead of a tux, which is completely fine by me.  Are any of you ladies selecting a short/tea length dress? Not necessarily interested in wearing the big gown again but I'm torn between something floor/ankle length and a dress thats shorter.....What are you ladies choosing? Opinions welcome!

    Try Dolly Couture.com.  I'm probably ordering one of those.  They have great prices too.  I'm not a vendor, just a fan.  Good luck with your search.

    My original was a short cocktail dress from Nordstrom's but I ended up taking it back.  Second one is a tea length dress in green - hides a multitude of sins.  And seriously more comfortable than the original.  I say whatevah you look good in darlin'

    Hi!  I'm getting a strapless tea length dress as well.  I think it's just perfect for the occasion.  I too didn't want to do the full gown, veil etc.,  it just seemed a bit inapropriate.  The tea length is a perfect solution.  My MOH and the jr. bridesmaids are also wearing tea length dresses. Simple elegance!   Good luck with your dress.

    I'm going with a short dress.  Not because we are not doing a formal affair, but because I liked it.  I am still wearing a veil.

    Thanks for the help ladies! Definetly helped make my decision....going to focus on a tea length dress. Hopefully I can find a jacket to match for my december wedding.

    Cannot wait to check out the Dolly Couture website!

    I did a short dress the first time around, in 1985.  Which, interestingly, looked a lot like the Dolly Couture dresses--very 40s-50s inspired--I had it made for me by a seamstress.

    So, this time I wanted something full length for our beach wedding.  I wore a Greek-inspired dress.  Finding a dress was an ordeal for me (the ladies on the board at the time probably remember) because I knew what I wanted from the start, but never could find it.  I'm a former competitive body builder, and a lot of dresses make my body-type look fat, and not fit.   I didn't want to have another dress specially made, because I was trying to do everything different than the first time.  Anyway, although I didn't love the dress, FI (now DH) did.  That was good enough.

    I am considering tea length.  Here are some of my fantasy dress resources:

    I really like the look and feel of Stephanie James, I find her designs very appealing (www.stephaniejamescouture.com). 

    Sarah Arnett also has a couple of tea length dresses (www.saraharnett.co.uk). 

    There is a designer in NYC, Mary Adams, who makes custom party and bridal dresses, which are amazing!  Check out a dress she designed on p66 of Real Simple Weddings 2010.

    Of course, fantasy may give into reality and I might end up carrying all of the looks I like to a local seamstress.  We'll see!

    You are my hero.  I just looked at the dresses on DollyCouture.com!!  I absolutely love how they capture the look and feel of my favorites from the other sites I mentioned but for a VERY reasonable price.
