Mine is the DJ! I have 2 meetings with DJ's this week so im hoping I will finally get this out of the way! I have been having a really hard time with this part of my planning process. Crossing my fingers and hoping to have someone picked by the end of the week.

I'm in the process of moving from NY to South Florida, so that's beating out everything else in order of priority right now! After we get settled in S.FL, I'll be looking for a florist!

Booking a DJ is my next check mark. We've got it narrowed down to about 2, so hopefully we will be booking within the next 2 weeks or so.

I think I'll be taking a planning break for awhile too, until I send STDs in July and maybe book hair/makeup artists.

I have my venue, photog, florist, string quartet, DJ, officiant and hotel block for OOT guests set right now - probably booked some stuff way too far in advance!

Good luck looking at DJs!

I tried to send my DJ a deposit, but he says he has not received it! I sent it a week ago and it should have taken 2, maybe 3 days max. GRRR!

I think I'll be taking a planning break for awhile too like PPs said. So far we've booked our venue, photographer, and DJ...we also have the date set with the church and are registered for the pre-cana class we have to do as part of getting married in the Catholic church. I'm sure we probably booked some things way ahead of time, but we knew we liked certain popular places in the Buffalo area so we wanted to make sure we locked them in early. I've been working on collecting addresses from people on the guest list lately so that we're all set when it comes time to send out save the dates and invites.

So I am very excited because we got a huge and relieving check on Friday. We are in a unique situation where we live in Boston but are getting married in Connecticut. In addition my FI's father is in the seminary right now to become a catholic priest (as his wife passed away) so we want him to marry us. It has taken a lot of effort to find a catholic church that will allow us to get married in their church as we do not belong to a church in CT and in addition to have my FI's father perform the ceremony. We found out Friday that we can get married at the church we want and we were able to meet with the priest who we will be doing our premarital classes with to get everything started. It has been a lot of work and I am very excited!

Our next thing to do is find a photographer. We are meeting with someone this Friday and I really hope it works because so far from our discussions, I really like her.

Like a couple PP's, I will be taking a break for a few weeks/months. I've booked my venue, DJ, photographer, and catering company and I ordered my dress this past weekend. We should probably get our engagement session done and STD's out by the end of the summer. I will start getting decorating ideas and maybe a florist by summer as well.

We are finalizing our cake with Bronwen Weber @ Frosted Art (She competes on Ultimate Cake off, Food network challenge, etc :P) tomorrow.

Flowers will be up next - 4 appts this week.
DJ next - 3 appts next week
Cater after that - 2 sittings in the next 2 weeks.

Im so happy to hear what everyone is up to! I have a HUGE DIY list so theres not much of a break I get to take. I want to get all these done as early as possible so that the last few months I dont have to worry about anything DIY!!!

@em I feel your pain ive had a lot of trouble with DJs too I thought we had one booked just needed to send a deposit and now I havent been able to get in touch with him for 2 months

So good luck to you on your DJ hunt im hoping to have this out of the way by the weekend.
@ everyone taking a planning break CONGRATS on being far enough along to get a break time! I cant wait to see you all back to planning after what im sure is a much needed break!!!!

Kendell - I'm so jealous!! I love Bronwen! And I love the Food Network too. You will def have to post pics of your cake!!

as for my next check mark - We're putting the deposit down on the photographer today! I'm so excited. But the big thing I'll be focusing on is getting the invitations designed. I'm having a little bit of trouble getting my vision out on the computer.

We LOVED their cakes Brittany! So far we aren't sure of the actual design but we have this

Bottom tier - 4in thick round in Mojito (to. die. for.) - A silver and almond pound cake with lime, mint julep, etc in the filling.

2nd tier - 4 in thick round in Spice - Brown sugar spice cake that is a lot like a cinnamon covered donut. SO freaking yummy

3rd tier - 6 inch thick (to make it interesting to look at) in Persian Passion - Silver and almond pound cake with hints of orange, cardamon, cinnamon etc

Anniversary tier - 4 in thick in Rock Show - Chocolate AND silver pound cake, separated by bourbon, coffee, caramel..delish!

The best part? We can eat our anniversary tier. They provide a fresh one every year as long as you give them a professional photo to add to their portfolio

Grooms cake - We have narrowed down to 2:

1.) An old school nintendo, controller, and gold zelda game carved from red velvet and decorated with marshmallow based fondant.

2.) The Portal Cake - A LOT of people will have no idea what this is, but Albert will. For you geeks out there, it will be modeled after the "The cake is a lie" cake from the portal game. The cake will be their chocolate smores cake

@mybestfriend - I am envious of your craftiness! I am trying to be more DIY but I'm not the craftiest person around and don't have a lot of DIY knowledge, so it's a learning experience.

@cgielow I never knew how crafty I was until I started putting together DIY wedding projects and actually got started on them. It is a learning experience but I found that even though I didnt think I was crafty its not as hard as it seems and once you get started you get more confidence to do more and more. LOL I think my bio DIY project list will grow and grow as I get more confident in my abilities. If you try anything out and need advice or tips please let me know and I will help in any way I can!!!!!!!!

@Kendall that sounds so delicious!!!! @mybestfriend I wish I was craftier and could DIY. I am making my card box and stationary and I have a lot of anxiety about those things! I couldn't imagine having a long list! That's awesome that you are crafty! My next big check is my DRESS! I go May 16th to look at gowns and I am SOOOO excited! We also have our engagement pictures in May (finally).

I am trying to do the photographer next, as I want to get engagement photos sometime soon. I have emailed one but am waiting to hear back.

Then I need to contact a dermatologist and get that started. Then I will probably work on the DJ. Other than that I probably won't do anything else until July.

We have our Venue (doing both ceremony and reception at a golf course), our good friend has accepted as our officiant, our photographer, doing engagement pictues Wed May 4, the golf course works closely with a florist that does amazing work, so I need to meet with her and check out her prices, our next thing is finding a DJ, but we plan do get that done this or next week! Then once our pictures come back STD's will be ordered and sent out! We are a bit ahead of the game, but that is how I like it, then I can coast for a while! Oh yeah, and I have my dress in a closet at my house (my FI has no idea) and it fits perfectly! No alterations needed except the bussel!!

Hoping my next big check will be my dress. Maybe its weird, but I was more excited to find a venue and food than I was about finding a dress. I know the style I'm looking for so when I do decide to make dress appts, I dont think I'll have too much of a problem. I'm the worst shopper ever...I hate it. So I do all my research in advance, figure out what I want, go to the store to try it on and hopefully get in and out without too much time/hassel! Hopefully this works with my wedding dress shoppiing too!

Reading this board.... TOTALLY stressed me out! haha. I have my Venue, and photographer (Maybe- waiting to hear its for sure a go), a little decor for Ceremony and candy table... and.... thats it! haha

The thing is tho, my mom just got married in March, and leaves for her honeymoon tomorrow. Once shes back, the lime light is all mine! Muahahahahahaha! =D

Wow im falling so behind... I have been super busy at work, then is almost the end of the school year for my girl and i have been searching for a good summer camp for her, she's only 5 and I worry so much... Plus our lease is up at the end of the month so we are apt hunting now... 2 weeks ago we met with #1 choice singer for our reception, everything went well so now we want to maybe interview a dj, but honestly i havent had luck finding one that is bilingual... so most likely we will go with the singer... (though she's a little over our budget) We booked our photographer a month ago but i havent had the time to schedule our e-pics... this weekend is mothers day and my munchkin's 3rd bday, so is a no no, plus i got the flu... so maybe by the end of the month we will be able to do that. Our coordinator is in maternity leave right now so we might get to do more things around july... time is flying though! how crazy!!!

So far, my mom is in the process of sewing the BM dresses. My cousin has agreed to bake the cake. Family friends have agreed to cater, but there is no firm contract yet. My venue is waiting for work to settle down enough I can talk to my priest. He refused to talk to me until this week, which has been crazy busy for me work-wise. The friends doing the catering will make sure my hall isn't booked before I can talk to Father, so I'm not worried about losing my date.

I'm going dress shopping Saturday, but even if I find something I love, I can't buy anything until early June, when I'll know for certain if I'm still employed...
