Massimo da Milano

Has anyone had their reception at Massimo da Milano on W. 25th or been to one there? It's definitely in our price range and provides a unique setting, but I'd love to hear some feedback before booking. There are great reviews online, but you never know. Our budget is very much limiting our options, but I'd still like to make the right decision!

    Our wedding reception is going to be there on 10-2-10. It was our choice because it was the best price for the location. I spoke with numerous people before booking who have been there and said the food was fabulous. To me that was one of the most important things- good food and booze.
    I have heard from other people who had their receptions there that they were very easy to work with, everything was done just right, and they heard wonderful reviews from guests after the wedding.
    When is your wedding? I can fill you in on my experience after my wedding.

    We are planning for August 2011 but haven't set the date quite yet. That would be wonderful if you could fill me in how it goes! I honestly haven't heard a bad thing yet, so I think we are definitely getting close to decision time. But you can't beat the price, especially with the open bar all night.

    I am also considering Massimo's and I'm planning to check it out this weekend.  My parents went last weekend to see it (I am planning the wedding from out of town) and had very positive things to say about the place, and about the owners.  Their only negative was that the neighborhood was slightly shady.

    One of my friends (who I met on here) had her wedding at Massimo's and loved it. Honestly, I've never heard a bad report about the place. As for location, any downtown locale is going to be more 'sketchy' than many suburbs. IMO, if guests have any common sense at all (i.e. don't leave your car unlocked with the windows down and stuff on the seats), they'll be fine. IMO, there are much worse neighborhoods than there.

    I agree with JKOhio about the location of the venue. I used to live just down the street from the Massimo Da Milano in Ohio City which is a great neighborhood of Cleveland with lots of great restaurants like the Great Lakes Brewing Company, Heck's and attractions like the West Side Market!

    One good thing about Massimo's is that it is family owned and they are easy to work with. About the neighborhood, I agree anything downtown is going to be "sketch". I read a venue review about Massimo's last year and the bride said they have parking valets there and they kind of directed the people around who were not part of the wedding to keep moving along and not hang out around the outside. She said the valets helped made her feel 150% comfortable.
     I will be doing reviews for all the businesses that we are using so I will update you after the wedding.

    Yeah definitely .... we were concerned more with how the area looked rather than any real safety issues. We hang out in Ohio City all the time and drive past Massimo's a lot. I've really never noticed anything questionable in the area. It more stinks having a vacant building for lease across the street. The nice part is they do have the valets and the parking lot is right outside, so guests will be busy looking for the building, parking and walking into the building ... not necessarily getting a good look around! With that said, we hoped for a more urban setting and downtown was too expensive, so it's nice to see the skyline not so far away!

    My sister had her wedding there in September2006 and it couldn't have been better. They were more than generous, it was beautiful, and stress free.

    They have a number of package options. You have either a $50 pp or $60 pp sitdown or buffets from $15pp to $19pp plus $20 pp for an open bar. The sitdown prices include the open bar. It's great because it's all-inclusive ... so you can really ballpark how much it will cost based on estimated head count. The price covers tax, gratuity, etc. Also, you can add white chair covers for $3.50 each. You can also add hot appetizers to the buffet (they only come standard with sitdown ... but buffets do include anti pasti selections) for like $2.50 pp. Hope it helps! We ended up booking it. I'm pumped!

    Had my first reception here and have been to many other receptions here. It is a great place for a great price. The reception will be what you make of it though. If you have specific requirements for decor etc (like any other bride with any other location) just make sure it is well known and it will be great. My one, very controlling, friend found a few things she didn't like but they were fixed. I can't remember about wheelchair accessabilty to the bathroom though. They are down stairs in the basement so that MAY be a consideration when looking. Other than that it is beautiful.

    What kinds of issues came up with decor? I was curious about that from our visits there. It almost feels like we show up on our wedding day and that's it ... rather than dictating at all how it should look. While we're fairly laid back, I wouldn't mind asking for a few things. Are they pretty reasonable about that?

    Otherwise, for any brides wondering, there is an elevator available for anyone in a wheelchair or who has trouble getting down the stairs. That was a concern of ours as well.

    We're booking our reception there for our fall 2012 wedding.  We just went for our tasting this past weekend.  They are very accomodating. There are a few issues that we noticed,but once brought to their attention, they are willing to fix. Small things, like the chicken parmesean was a little salty for our elderly guests (they're going to reduce the salt), having the bridal party served with the buffet package, and something as simple as wanting crackers for the appetizer table.  I don't know any place that lets you bring in your own added foods!!  The price is great, location awesome.  I'm not sure how the table set up works, since I am my own florist.  We'll have to just trust them to set it up as we envision it.  We're very excited!!
