Re: which name

  • Book everything under your maiden (current) name. No one knows you have planned to chang your name when you board the ship. You can call yourself whatever you want on the ship, but your legal status, with your papers, should be whatever you book under since you can't possibly get paperwork to change anything in less than 30 days

This is a copy and past directly from my website (you can also see more travel tips if you click the link above my siggy pic)

    1. The only form of ID acceptable for international travel is a passport (or visa). Do not show up at the airport with a drivers license, marriage license or social security card and expect to get on your flight. You WILL be turned away.

    2. For domestic travel (US,Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands) a drivers license is fine, for now, to board flights. However, always double check and make sure that is still an acceptable form of ID as the laws are always changing.

    3. For cruises it is best to check the cruise lines website directly for the proper info as it differs depending on destination. At this time, closed circuit cruises (begin and end in US) do not need a passport. However, in this travelers opinion, it is always better to be safe than sorry. I would still have a passport. Here is a link to Royal Caribbeans website for passport infohttp://www.royalcaribbean.com

    4. For the honeymooners, it is imperative to remember that passport and airline tickets MUST match. That means, if you are going on your honeymoon right after the wedding, the airline tickets must be booked in your MAIDEN name. You CAN NOT change your last name to your new married name until you have the marriage license back from the court. This could take weeks.

    5. When changing your passport from maiden to married name remember to send in your original marriage license and current passport along with the filled out paperwork required. This can be downloaded here: http://travel.state.gov and http://www.tsa.gov/
