Does the Ring Bearer actually hold the rings?

I'm having my young nephew (age 7) be the ring bearer for our wedding. FI is nervous about having a kid (who can be mischievous at times) hold our rings. We still want to have him be the ring bearer since his two sisters are also in the WP (one is a bridesmaid and the other is the flower girl), and we were wondering if there's a way to have him be the ring bearer without holding onto the rings?

  • You can sew or tie on fake rings to the pillow and let the officiant or honor attendants hold the real rings.

  • The ring bearer does not need to hold the rings.  Fi's nephew will be our ring bearer he is very shy so he may not even make it down the aisle. BM will definitely be holding my ring and either MOH or BM will have FI's.

  • Our RB is only 2, so he will not actually be holding the rings. This is a job for the best man. IMO, RB' s are generally just for show, or to incorporate children that are special to you. For example, FI wanted his sister involved in the wedding, so she will be walking her son (the RB) down the aisle.
  • Mine did, they were attached to the pillow by a ribbon tied in to a bow. The groom undid the bow and removed the rings.
