Re: Bridal Expo

  • Take a girlfriend or your mother with you.  Only sign up for those vendors you're actually interested in (I would set up an email account just for your wedding vendors).  If you provide your information to everyone you'll get bombarded.  Ask tons of questions....and enjoy!
  • Avoid a company called Dinner for Two, its a big scam.

If you dont have to, dont put your phone number.

I agree with making an email address just for vendors.

  • Thanks for the tips ladies!! My fiance and I are going together...he said he wanted to be an "active participant" LOL...he's less than thrilled about going but I'm pumped! Good idea for printing labels.

  • Make labels with your name, e-mail, phone number and wedding date. It will save you a lot of time filling out those ballots.

Only give your info to those vendors that you have interest in.

Avoid a company called Table Charm or any place that tells you that you can win free honeymoon that isn't a travel agency - it's a scam.

  • I would suggest to make address labels before you go... Its annoying to have to keep writing your name and address over and over again

  • Only sign up for vendors you are interested in. I went to a show 2 months ago and I am getting daily calls and emails from vendors that I don't want/need. I have been getting a ton of phone calls (at least 2 daily) from weird numbers from other area codes and I think it is from the bridal show. I don't know if some of the vendors sell your info or not but this didn't start happening until I went to the show!!

Pre made labels are a good idea too.

Make sure you stay for the entire thing! They were giving a ton of stuff away at the one I want to: iPads, gift cards, coupons, free stuff, etc, etc. and if you weren't physically there at the show you couldn't claim anything so they moved on and drew another name until they got someone who was actually present.

All in all I had a ton of fun. I got a lot of great ideas too. Definitely bring a friend or relative. Enjoy!!!

  • Ditto PP about giving out your info.

And ditto Stina about dinner for two!  Stay far FAR away from them!  Words cannot express how annoying they are.  I actually didn't even give them my info, I believe they got it from my registering at the expo.  They text me every so often, and call, even though I have emailed and called asking to be taken off their calling list 3 times now.

That being said, have fun! Can you tell how much I hate D42?  lol

  • Ditto on giving your info, but sometimes you don't have to give it for them to contact you. At the last bridal show I was at, I only signed up at 3 tables ( I have all my vendors already) and I received a billion emails/calls from every vendor there. Obviously, the bridal expo people sold my info to all of the vendors there.

Some will even say 'it was so nice to meet you at our table'...even if I didn't go there.

Funniest story yet: I'm Christian and already had my Uncle as my officiant since day 1. There were several officiants there of various denominations. I keep getting emails from a Rabbi saying he was so glad to meet me. Hello, I KNOW I didn't sign up for that! Definitely use an alternate email.
  • I agree with everyone about the labels.  I didn't do that at the first expo I went to and it was a pain in the butt writing out my info over and over again!
