Newer Knottie

HI All!

I've been clicking around the Knot now for a month or so and posting here and there, and just wanted to see if you had any advice on where to start with our planning.  We've booked the LIttle Log House in Hastings for next Setpember and we're working on a caterer, photographer and have our DJ booked.  What next?  Where should I start? I feel overwhelemd with all the other stuff left (centerpieces, dresses, theme, colors) to do and just have no idea where to start!  Any advice for a knewbie?!

Thanks!

Honestly, it sounds like you're on your way!  The biggies are picking the date and your venue.  After that, I don't know that the order matters so much.  Guest list and budget probably should go up to the top.

I would start looking around on TK's inspiration pictures. That is where I got my ideas on centerpieces, decorations, invites and the like.

What are your favorite colors? That is where I would start when trying to decide colors. As for dresses just start looking :) I was surprised at how easy it was to find my dream dress.

Congrats and welcome!  You're off to a good start.  Date and venue are the big ones.  Just keep working down the list!

    Welcome to the board!!

Knottie debbieupper had her wedding there and it looked fantastic!  Excellent venue choice...  I think you can link to her planning bio from the "MSP Bio" that is in the intro sticky at the top of the board if you'd like some inspiration!

You've got plenty of time for the rest of the decisions and good job taking care of the big ones.  I loved looking through wedding blogs during the planning process to get inspiration on colors, decor, etc... my personal favorites are Style me Pretty, Snippet and Ink, Bride's Cafe and Budget Saavy Bride!

Oh yep definitely look at Debbieuppers bio- and I am not sure who she used for catering, but I know she LOVED them, so worth looking into that.

    Welcome!!

    Welcome :)

Like the other ladies have said I don't know if order matters but I got all of the  "big" decisions out of the way first.  Like picking our photog, dj, etc. and getting those vendors booked and then worried about all the little details.

We'd work on one vendor decision at a time.  Start researching recommendations from here and others we found, met with a few, figured out who we liked best and who was in our price range.

It sounds like you are on the right track! GL with the whole process! :)

One of the best things to do is to lurk on TK-- seriously! I've learned SO much on here. As you research and run into problems or questions, the girls on here are an awesome resource. I'd also suggest plugging into your club/month board. Everyone on there is in the same place as you and you plan together-- it's really fun and you can make some great friends.

I would also do tons of research and shop around. I'm the kind of person who likes to just find one thing that works and go with it, but that isn't good when planning a wedding. Keep your options open, don't be afraid to think outside the industry's wedding box, and follow your gut.
