Canadian paying taxes in the U.S on wedding services

Hi Everyone,I have a quick question about taxes on wedding services. My fiancee and are I are Canadian, we chose to have a destination wedding in FL. Upon contacting a photographer when asking about tax, she stated that it would depend on what State we are from. When we told her we were Canadian, she said we would not have to pay tax (which is great). Has anyone heard of this or can direct me to where I could find information, I would greatly appreciate it. I am just wondering if this would work for all services or the information that we were given was wrong.Thanks in advance.

Depends on the state I believe. In my state there are no taxes on services only sales.

We paid 4.something% on everything which is the Hawaii state tax. They knew we were Canadian, so I don't think Hawaii has any deal like that.

It depends on the state. I am a Canadian but own a business and attend conferences in the states frequently (which means that we are hiring services frequently to host such conferences) and depending where we are we either do or don't pay taxes for what we're getting them to do.

If you do pay taxes that you aren't obligated to pay, you keep the receipts and claim it at the border when you're leaving. Check with both the American and Canadian border services agencies.
