October 2012 Weddings

my procrastination makes me laugh

I still have to meet with the decorator, florist for the venue, the venue, the bakery, order bouquets, get rings, a marriage licence, finalize the menu with the vendor, make a dj list, think of our first song, go for my first fitting, annoy everyone that did not RSVP (I might pass that task to my mother), pick favors and write our ceremony. what have I been doing for the past year lol

  • Make a list and knock things out one at a time.  Feels good to cross things off!

  • I have a lot of that stuff on my list too! Including ceremony and I feel like I don't even know where to begin with that!

  • WE have our cermony done, and approved by our offciant, just need to meet with him, and with me working evening shifts... and him doing weddings on the weekend it is getting rather difficult LMAO
  • HAHA I totally agree I have all the things you do.  I also just sent out my invites yesterday (I'm a 10/13 bride).  We still don't have a HM and haven't had our epics yet.
  • Here is a good point. When do you start bugging people about RSVP's my date is 9/13 but that is one month exactly and I have to give final counts to the venue then. I should have made the date earlier, but my invites have been out for weeks now and I did send a save the date. Is it too early to start bugging people or should I wait until after labor day?
  • I think you should wait until after the RSVP date, because they do have until then to send them back. However, I will say that I know how hard that is. I do not have patience for these people not sending their RSVPs back. It's like, we addressed them and stamped them for you, just check yes or no and put the freakin' thing in the mail already!! I'm trying to work on seating and these people are holding me up lol.

  • i would be bugging them now

  • Well if they are due on the 13th perhaps there is not harm poking them the week before....
  • I have a lot of those things left on my to-do list as well, plus others.  You'll be fine!  Like mana suggested, just make a list and start crossing them off.

Oh, and for bugging them for RSVP's - if your deadline to let the venue know if the 13th, then I would start calling around no later then next week.

  • Don't worry, I have most of those things to do too.  I finally confirmed we have a bakery, florist and DOC last week!  ha  I don't have anything finalized.....I don't really care what they look like!

For the 13th deadline, you should definitely call before.  If you need the numbers in by the 13th, you need to ask before.  It might be good to double check with your vendor, as 1 month seems a little long.  Granted mine is 14 business days (which is essentially 3 wks)....
