honeymoon

Hi!  I am trying to decide between St. Lucia or Antigua.  I have not been to either place and  was wondering if anyone has been to one of these places?  Also we are thinking about the Sandals resort.  Has anyone stayed at a Sandals resort and what were there thoughts?  We are trying to go for 7 nights and stay within a 5000 budget.  My travel agent like Antigua but hasn't been to St. Lucia so I was wanting some extra opinions.  Also any suggestions on other locations I would love and would check them out.  Thanks!!

I don't know much but maybe you can check out the honeymoon board. They have lots of info there. We almost did Antigua but I think the flight was more than what we wanted to spend.

We are headed to the Sandals Grand in St Lucia.  So excited!!!  I've read pretty good reviews on it- def check out the honeymoon board.  We used Jennifer at VIP Travel--she's one of their top agents!  She's awesome!!  She can def tell you about St Lucia....we also considered Antigua.

@ Aphitx - Thanks for the info on Jennifer.  You ought to be excited.  I have heard good things about St. Lucia.  DH & I are seriously considering St. Lucia, so I will definately check her out.  I can't wait to hear your reviews when you return from your honeymoon.

We stayed at the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia!  We had a great time!!!  So much to do, good food & drinks and we had one of the newly remodeled rooms!

I would recommend St. Lucia for sure!

If you go -- you have to go zip-lining.  It was amazing!!!

If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer them!  Smile

    Thanks!

I actually found a travel agent over on the honeymoon board and she seems to beat any price I have found at the Regency (Sandals).

CDCOOK.... I private messaged you through here but am not sure if it will work.

Can I ask you what the room name was you stayed in?  Also I heard mixed reviews on the food.  HOw did you like the food?

I guess it would help if I knew how/where to check a private message... I guess I'm not up to speed with the new TK!

I believe we stayed in the honeymoon grande ocean view.  It was in the main tower (make sure you're in the main tower).  The first room they gave us was SO old (think teal wall-paper, maroon bathroom, old school tube TV).  It was a little hut pretty far up the hill - away from everything.  We went and complained that the room they gave us was not like the pictures online - they switched us to a room in the tower (which was just renovated - MUCH nicer bathroom, flat screen TV, balcony over looking the main pool and ocean).   Once they moved us we were so much happier - and closer to everything!

There are several restaurants - Armando's (the italian place) is good.  The japanese steak house - can't remember the name - is good but you need reservations.  It's really easy to make the reservations.  The Arizona restaurant is pretty good as well.  To be honest - some of the food is hit or miss - but since it's AI you can just order something else if you don't like the first thing you ordered.  The breakfast isn't super fab - but I'm not a huge breakfast eater so it didn't bother me much.

They have really good frozen drinks.  The main pool (there are 3 pools) has a swim-up bar.  The main pool is where most of the action is during the day -- pool volleyball, name that tune, etc...

We became friends with 4 other couples and went to the evening entertainment with them & would lounge by the pool with them as well.  When we were there, most people went to  the Cricketeer (the pub) after the evening entertainment to continue the night.  They have a piano bar - but when we (our small group of new friends) went it was pretty dead.  The bartenders said it's hit or miss and changes in popularity each week with different visitors.

If you end up going to St. Lucia -- be prepared - the vans they send to the airport to pick you up in are old & seem a bit sketchy at first, but once you get there it's much better.  :)  It's about an hour van ride from the airport to the Regency.

If you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer them!
