  • Groom here (I have nothing to do:)

LaMaFa got her jewelry here :http://www.serendipitytiaras.com/

she liked one set I liked another so my mom bought both and Laura ended up using the ear rings from one and necklace from another.

Hair accessory: She's using her mom's veil for the ceremony but she wanted something less in the way for the reception so I found a simple tiara from david bridal.
  • Am I the only one who thinks its creepy and weird that LaMafa's FI is all over these boards? I would be so embarrased if that was my FI. Just sayin'..

  • Amy, it doesn't bother me, he tries to offer advice or help me with stuff. Since I'm a brand new teacher (started in August), I have a TON of things I have to do to meet requirements and trainings to attend so I don't have as much time for wedding planning as I'd like/need. Since my FI still hasn't been able to find a job, he's been helping with all kinds of wedding stuff. He just wasn't sure about making his own profile- how well he would be accepted with his own profile since it's mostly brides on here, plus any time he posts he always says that its him and not me.
He really is trying to help me and anyone else as he can (he's super sweet and caring, so a lot of it is just his personality, part of why I love him so much). Plus a lot of times he has questions about things and likes to be able to ask himself, rather than bug me to ask them in the moments I do have time to be on here as I'm working on our plans.

  • Well damn. Aren't we a tad negative this evening.? We're very accepting on this board...and most of us think its nice he pitches in, we never get a male opinion in here. Everyone's entitled to post. And in response to the actual post, I got my hairpieces from Spain but my jewelry is from Twinkle, Twinkle on the mile.

  • Yeah, really-- I think it's awesome how involved your FI is, Laura!  I know how stressful the first year of teaching is and having him help has to alleviate the stress from the wedding :-)

  • Thanks for the support everyone! It's great to hear that you appreciate Chris's thoughts and help as much as I do!

Stephanie, I think what is making this first year even harder for me are the extra requirements I have to meet- since I wasn't an education major, there are a zillion things I have to do to get my professional certificate here in FL (and half of them seem to need to be done my first year!). Not to mention I work at a year round school, so I don't even have the summer off to look forward to catching up/taking a breather! Chris has definitely been amazing helping me as much as he has, I'd probably lose my head without him!
  • Personally, I never had a problem with Chris coming on to the board to seek advice from us in order to help out Laura. I think it's sweet and very thoughtful because not many guys will decide to seek advice from us. It's not the first time I see a guy ask for help from fellowbrides (happens a lot on the WeddingBee) and everyone seems very accepting and helpful.

OP, to answer your question....I purchased my bridal hair comb at a local store in Miami but I don't remember the name but I will ask my mom. My mom purchased my earrings from a friend of hers who sells bridal jewelry.

Other good places to check out would be Macy's, Dillards, and Etsy.
  • Thank you Ladies for the supporting me but let me just say this and go.

Let me give you a little background on myself. I am a sociology scholar with concentrate in gender issues (specifically family issues) and research methods. This means two things when it comes to the wedding  (1) I have used my research ability to help Laura plan 90% of this wedding because  (2)I have rejected certain gender roles that says “weddings are the woman’s problem”.

The only issue we have had is with final details for Laura (wardrobe, lingerie, ect) because 1: She is too busy to get anything done. 2: The things she need to get done are sex specific and not having her lady parts I have no idea how the hell to help her (enter this site).  I’m not a dumb groom I know if I keep Laura happy the less stress and crap I have on my plate, but I don’t know what’s going through a bride’s mind (again enter this site) to be able to help her relax all the time.

Laura and I are happy doing things for each other that might violate specific gender roles. In the end if we are happy planning the wedding or just planning fantasy football together I think that’s all that matters in the end.  And I truly think any attack or criticism in the matter is the showing of jealousy/envy.

With all that said I don’t think its right to ask/get help without “Paying it forward”. Which again explains some others posts I’ve made. With all that said I understand that my presence might make people feel “weird or creeped out” and I do not want to take away from any bride’s experience (Like we all have done by hijacking OP’s post and that I’m apparently am doing to you). With only a handful of days left to the wedding I don’t think there’s any more help I will need (I do not speak for Laura here) so I will stop dropping by.

  • Thanks for the responses so far! I welcome any and all Knotties, whether male or female. ;)

Aww, don't sweat the haters!! You can come on here whenever you like. I agree, the more help she gets the less stressed she'll be, which makes you less stressed as well. We like having your opinion and definitely don't mind helping you and Laura out. Don't feel ostracized because of one persons opinion....the rest of us think it's great Laura has you on her team!

  • Aw man, Laura!  Sucks you have to worry about meeting more requirements on top of everything else, but I'm sure you'll have no problem getting it accomplished!  It's awesome that Chris is helping you so much.  Like STB said, "the more help she gets the less stressed she'll be, which makes you less stressed as well."  So true!

Chris- you're welcome here whenever you need to pop in :-)

  • I love when the grooms are involved!!! Thanks for being supportive LaMafa's!

    Ok. Back to the question...
I am looking for a silk flower bouquet with brochees and crystals as well. Some of the prices are just too much
I've been checking this website, they are not as expensive as other bouquets. I think their bouquets are just EXQUISITE !!!
    http://specialdayboutique.com/html/bouquets.html

I email her and she said she can match any colors you want.
