Cupcakes!

I run a cupcake business on the side and I figured it would 1 save money and 2 be a great personal thing to include in our big day if I did the cupcakes for our wedding. Though there is tradition in "cutting the cake", have you still heard of feeding eachother a cupcake? Ideas?

Thanks a bunch! :)

Re: Cupcakes!

  • You can make a small cake for the top "tier" or you can cut a cupcake in half.

I'm sure whatever you do to make it work will be fine. I wouldn't think it was weird if you cut the cupcake and fed it to each other.

[QUOTE]They make those cupcake shaped cake pans. Maybe you could have a cupcake shaped cake for the top tier and cut that, with the cupcakes on the tiers below, like in the PP's picture? Just be sure to do it ahead of time, you don't want to be piping frosting at 2am the morning of your wedding.

<div>I sure would, I've done several weddings and usually get the cupcakes done a couple days before. ;) </div>
  • I've seen cake-cupcake tier combinations as well.  I don't think you have to actually eat the cake if you cut it...you can cut the cake and eat cupcakes.
  • That's what we did. We had a small cake on top for cutting and then the cupcakes were for our guests.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I have seen a couple feed each other cupcakes.  Just cut it in half first!

I'm an avid baker and was thinking of doing cupcakes for my wedding as well. Do you have any suggestions for timeline for baking  and how to store premade cupcakes prior to decorating, while preserving freshness.
We're getting married in London, Ontario, Canada (right across the boarder from you), so I'm sure you're well aware of what the summers are like... I was wondering if you had tips for icing preservation in the heat. I was considering Italian Buttercream with some cream of tarter as a stabilizer (amount per batch?).

That being said, I love the idea of having personal touches at your wedding. I think it's a heartfelt way to say thanks to your guests.
