split ends@ panteneexpert

My hair is the longest it's been in years, just past my shoulders. When it was short I could color to my heart's content without worrying about damage. I bleached some streaks in the front of my hair over the holidays, and regretted it (blonde just isn't for me) And covered it with red dye. It was a few months ago and I have split ends in the front section of my hair(where the streaks were)
How can I minimize the damage and keep the front hairs from splitting off? Trimming the ends helped a little, but some of the split ends are mixed throughout.

I used to get horrible split ends, but then I started using only microfiber towels on my hair instead of cotton and it's made a huge difference.  I read that cotton is rougher on the hair somehow.  Don't spend $10+ on special hair towels.  Just go buy some cheap kitchen or cleaning towels that say they are microfiber for way less $.  Same thing.  It really helped with my frizziness problem, too.

Also, when I condition (always with Pantene, of course), I put extra on the ends and leave it on for at least 5 minutes before rinsing to let it really soak in.  I haven't had a trim in 6 months and I'm only starting to see a few splits.
