Show me your... China

Are you registering for fine china? Have you picked your pattern yet?

We entertain a lot and are so excited about the pattern we picked today!

It is Vintage Jewel by Lenox.

EDITED to add text not sure why it did not show up on the original post!

That's beautiful!  I didn't see that when I was picking my pattern.  I went with Waterford Padova

  • Aww what pretty patterns! We aren't sure if we're going to register for china or not. We're very "casual" entertainers, but it might be nice to have anyway.

we're going to register for china, though i don't know when we will ever use it. i guess if we ever have christmas/thanksgiving at our house (in the distant future) it will be nice to have.

we haven't picked out a pattern yet though.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • We registered for simple entertaining china from pottery barn. Its basic white and will be used for holidays and what not. Im a big fan of simple, classic entertaining pieces so all our items from pottery barn are the classic white. I guess I am pretty boring! haha We still have to go to BBB and do our everyday dishes. This is the Caterer's Dinnerware collection from PotteryBarn that we registered for. I also did it because each item (bowl, salad, dinner plate) comes with 12 so it will give us enough for hosting larger dinner parties.

  • We aren't registering for China because I am getting at least three sets haha.

My grandmother is passing me our family set, straight from Germany.  It's insured for nearly $15,000 and it makes me nervous.  I don't know what I'll do with it hahaha.  It's white and navy.

The other set was my great grandmother's.  It's purple and ugly.

The final set was my step-grandmother's.  My step-dad was an only child and has no biological kids, so all their passed-down family stuff (crystal, fine china, etc.) is mine now.  I have no idea what that China looks like yet, as it's still in storage.

Nothing cute, but way too much to justify registering for me.  We have settings for like 500 people already hahaha.  We will be registering for everyday stuff though, but don't plan to go do that until March-ish.
  • We registered for some boring white china we plan to dress up with awesome table accessories that can change all the time :-)

We liked several that BBB and Belk's had, but the ones we gravitated to weren't microwave safe, and it was a deal breaker.

I actually just wrote a blog post about my china if you are interested.

ditto!  I think were going to register for some oversized plates and other serving dishes. But Im wondering when were like 50 and we want to have some fancy party we are going to regret not having fancy china

  • I have my Nana's gorgeous fine china already-my mother gave it to me for my 30th birthday!  Between our 2 mothers we stand to inherit at least one more set, possibly 3 or 4.  So we decided not to register for china, though I really wanted to get something bright and funky. Ii have beautiful pale blue now, and we will get traditional white on white and a white with platinum band set eventually.  But I decided against it.

We registered for fiesta ware instead, I have ok(ish) everyday stuff right now and while fiesta isn't so much fancy its fun and functional and has so many serving and accessory options. So that will be our new everyday but nice enough to entertain and not bring out the good china unless its a special occasion.

I was all about the lenox "chirp", and "floral fusion" I also really love Kate Spade's Market St in green, as well as Vera Wang Ikat.
