The joys of living in a small town

My FFIL just told me about how he and my godmother used to play strip poker on the school bus...needless to say he isn't the most tactful man alive, but he sure does have some great stories about my parents and their friends!

Then again, maybe he just was trying to change the subject after I told him the per person costs for the wedding.

Re: The joys of living in a small town

  • My FFIL was married(right out of high school) to my aunt. We joke that in their divorce in the divison of assets and custody agreement(they have a son together so my cousin will be my BIL) he got "custody" of my parents(my mom and her sister do not get along).  He tells everyone that he has known me since I was a baby(which is true) and that he used to change my diaper. We don't hide that my FFIL and aunt were married from our friends. It's rather refreshing knowing my FILs as long as I have because I get along with them and have always looked at them as parental figures in my life. Plus is my dad and my FFIL are great friends so our wedding will be one big party. Of course, some of my FH's family(on his mom's side) doesn't realize I've known him our whole lives, so they will say stuff and I will be, "Oh I remember him like that" or something and they look at me funny.

  • Steph I think stories like that are cute.  It's so nice when families already know each other and can have shared memories of growing up.  Thanks for sharing also!
