Reception Venue: Charles H. Wright Museum

We have been engaged for almost 4 months and after looking at twelve venues in the Metro Detroit area I believe we have a winner: The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History's Ford Freedom Rotunda ( www.thewright.org/event-space ) Has anyone been to a wedding reception here? I want something unique and this space is beautiful. Check it out and let me know what you think?

Re: Reception Venue: Charles H. Wright Museum

  • I have never been to an event there, but their wedding package prices (which do not include the food) seem sort of high when compared to other places.

But if you can afford it, then go for it! It is really lovely and unique. I put this link in another thread above yours, it's another bride's blog about all the info she found out on Detroit locations while researching for her own wedding.

  • I looked into Charles H.Wright... When is your wedding? Did u sample any of their caters?
  • The wedding will be either May 11, 2013 or My 26, 2012.  I am leaning more toward the 11th but both dates are currently open.  I have been in contact with the caters and will probably go with Touch of Class.  I have received great reviews about their food, the price is affordable and they seem to be flexible with requests (I requested a modified menu and they were open to my suggestions).  We will be doing a tasting with the next two weeks so I will let you know what we decide.
  • How was your wedding reception? I'm also considering the museum. Were you pleased with catering?
