I saw this post on the July 2011 board and I started to really put some thought into and and I was wondering if any of you girls have a plan for the first five years of marriage.
Year 1:
- Hopefully move into a bigger apartment in Belgium. My FI's apartment is the perfect size for him and for me when I visit, but for us to live a real life together we need a bigger place. We are not wishing anything ill onto grandma (well at least not me, unlike my FI's fam I love his grandma she is a sweet old 96 year old lady) if she passes at anytime we will begin the process of remodeling her house.
- I need at least a part-time job in Belgium.
- Start an online degree program while hopefully working part-time.
- Start working on our savings accounts (general saving, saving for vacations, emergency fund, future baby fund)
Year 2:
- Get my Mirena removed so we can start working on children.
- Go on a really great vacation. Maybe it can be our Italy year.
- Keep working on my books, hopefully at least one will be published.
- Keep saving!
Year 3:
- Be finished with my BA degree or two...go onto my Masters (maybe).
- Have a baby
- Saving...
Year 4:
-Take a vacation home to the States, if we have a baby it would be a great time to introduce our baby to the family.
- Job shop in the states for my FI and myself.
- Work on savings...will come in handy during year 5.
Year 5:
-Hope my FI can transfer with his job to the US or find a new job in the States so we can move back to the states. (He already knows I don't plan to stay in Europe forever and at some point we are moving back here)
- Open a Bakery
