When to register?

I keep getting mixed advice. Some people say now (for reasons like people wanting to get you birthday or Christmas presents from your registry) but other people say to wait until within six months of the wedding because of the potential for patterns to change, items may be discontinued, etc.

What are your thoughts?

We just started ours. I think the sooner, the better. And, you can always update items, or add more later as seasons change. Depending on what you're registering for, some items remain pretty constant.

We're registering around the middle of August. It's early enough that people could get us stuff for Christmas. And also that's probably the only time we'll have to actually go to the stores and register together. After that, we'll just update online if things get discontinued or whatnot.

We registered back in June. The stores will send you updates of discontinued items. Plus, it gives us time to think about what we need/want. It's easy to deleta/add items.
My suggestion...go ahead register!! Enjoy!

We decided not to do one cuz we already live together and have EVERYTHING. I heard ppl say if a couple ddnt register, that the guests would just give monetary gifts. And that works for me and FI.!

Started ours already, just made sure to not register for 'seasonal' items unless we wanted to buy them ourselves and still get registry credit. With Macy's for example, you can still earn credit on other purchases if you have a Macy's card so that's a huge incentive for FI and I.

Forgot to Add:

You can always add 'seasonal' stuff later, like bedding if you know a shower's coming up or something. It's so easy to update items and take things out.
