wedding night hotel

i am being nosy here....where are you staying on your wedding night? how much are you spending on the hotel?
i am staying at a historical mansion @ $600 a night the only reason i am spending this much is we are prob not doing the honeymoon for awhile

Re: wedding night hotel

  • We are staying at a Howard Johnson in town, we only paid 68$... I was going to go for a nice suite at the Casino for that night but we are leaving for our honeymoon the next day so I wanted a cheaper decent hotel.

We're going a somewhat nontraditional route...

We're having an afterparty in a certain neighborhood. The only moderately priced hotel is fully booked that night and the other option will be full of people I know through work for a conference.

We've decided to just stay in the large house my MoH and my family are renting. I'll be staying there the night before anyway and this just seemed easier. We really just need a place to sleep for a few hours and relax in between events. I trust my family to leave us alone when we want them to.

It will end up costing us about $200 for both nights while a hotel would have been $250 or more per night.

  • We are going home and sleeping in our own bed.   :)     We have 7 OOT guests staying at our house for the wedding, with two little kids.  We also have two HUGE dogs... and we don't want our company to be responsible for watching our dogs.   They said they were fine with it... but, the dogs don't know them super well, since them live across the country and have only visited once.  I don't want my rottweiler eating one of my friends walking through the front door on my wedding night.

So, we are going home... and probably ordering a midnight pizza.   We are going on our honeymoon in December.
  • We're going to stay at the same hotel the guests are staying at. We aren't leaving for the HM until the Monday after so we'll go home that Sunday. We thought it would be kind of a downer if we just went home to our apartment the night of, but I really sleep best at home and our flights are super early Monday! lol If 8 rooms are booked where I blocked rooms, then we get our night free. It's the Holiday Inn Express in town.
  • We are staying at the JW Marriott.  FI had some Marriott points left after booking our honeymoon so we are getting the room for free.

i LOVE it ...ordering a midnight pizza...that sounds like something me and FH would do!
  • i think all of your ideas are great
  • We're staying at the same Holiday Inn as our guests. And if enough of our hotel block gets booked, our room ends up being free! :)

  • We are splurging a little bit. We are getting married in south jersey, but a limo is picking us up and taking us to the Riitenhouse which is in downtown Philadelphia. It's arguably the nicest hotel in the city. We will stay there fri and sat night and leave for the HM on sun afternoon. It's about 400 dollars a night.

  • We are staying in a suite in a Westin, which is a different hotel than our hotel block for our guests is at. I need the suite the day of the wedding so there is extra room for all the girls to get ready (we are having hair and make up ladies come to us there). It will be nice to have already been checked in and have our stuff there, and not have any guests nearby so we can just relax once we are back to the room. It's about $220 per night.

  • since our reception is at a hotel, we get a junior suite free for the night of the wedding :) definitely a perk!
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • We get a free hotel room for booking our reception there:-)

  • For us, it depends on what happens in the next few months. Right now we're living at my parents' house. If we're still here by the time the wedding rolls around, then we'll book a room in the block that we're using for our guests (which is where me, my mom, and my BMs are staying the night before). However, it's a very real possibility that FI will find a job that requires us to move between now and then, and if that's the case then I think he and I would be more comfortable sleeping in our own place the night of. Plus, we're also planning on staying in a hotel close to the airport on Sunday night because our HM flight leaves early Monday morning.

  • We'll probably be staying at the hotel right next our venue. We stayed there the night we got engaged :)
  • We're staying at an amazing B & B that his parents are getting us as a wedding gift.

  • We are staying at the same hotel as our guests, The Hyatt House. We are staying there the night before as well and like PP's get our room free if we meet a certain number in our room block.
    Anniversary
  • FI and I are staying at a Cambria Suites hotel after the wedding.  The price was around $220/night.  The two nights before, we'll be staying with the wedding party at a vacation compound (a few small cabins) on a nearby lake.  We'll have our own cabin at the lake, but FI wants more privacy for the wedding night!  We didn't block rooms at the hotel because they required 2 night minimum stays to offer a block.  We're both pretty excited about the hotel - it's newer and more modern whereas most hotels we visited while looking for room blocks were older, overpriced, and not well-kept.
  • We're staying at the little hotel where the ceremony & reception will be held. About a third of our guests will be there as well (it's only 18 rooms tho). The bridal suite comes w/ the package. The nice thing is, even if we were having a tiny wedding and only a few of the rooms were booked to our guests, the hotel doesn't let out any of the rooms to non-wedding-party guests, so, small or large, the hotel is ours for the night. The rest of our guests will be mostly staying in a town about 15 min away.

The hotel is so lovely. It was built in 1907 and has been restored beautifully.

  • We are staying at the same hotel as our guests, Aloft.  We are having buses shuttle everyone to and from the reception so that people can take advantage of the open bar without having to worry about driving.  Aloft has a nice bar and there is a brewery next door so we plan on having an afterparty once we get back.

I'll be staying there the night before with my MOH and possibly BMs as well.  And then the night after we will head back to our house for a night and then leave for our honeymoon Monday AM.
  • We are going home to sleep in our own beds.  :)  It's free, comfy and only 10 minutes from our reception venue.  We don't leave for our honeymoon for 3 days, so we'll have plenty of time to relax and pack after the wedding.

  • We're getting married at a B&B and as a perk they are giving us a room for the night.  We don't leave for our honeymoon until the Monday after so it will be fine.

  • We're staying at the resort that we're getting married at. They give you a free suite for the bride and groom.
  • FIs dad paid for a room for us on our wedding night at a lovely hotel on the harbor.  I'm so pumped :)
  • Our venue is a chateau so part of the package includes a honeymoon suite for the night of the wedding. Me and my girls will be in the same room the night before the wedding as well-as a bridal suite included in the package as well.
  • We have booked an old beautiful Inn for the night before the wedding and the wedding night. The Inn has 12 rooms and we booked them all for us and our wedding party. We will probably want to eat and hang out more after the wedding and this way we won't bother anyone because the whole place is ours!
  •  we haven't decided yet. either at our house (we' may having OOT Guests staying with us), or my parents house, where the receiption is being held. Or at the hotel where even more out of towners will be staying.

  • We are staying at one of the hotels we have a block at... we live in Philadelphia but the wedding is in Green Bay WI where I grew up and the rooms are filling up fast due to a Packer game in town.. If we get 20 rooms blocked our room's free but it's the priciest hotel in our list of blocks so worst case they'll give us half off for having a block there regardless... we're flying out the next day for our honeymoon either way :)

  • FI and I were going to rent a hotel suite at a chain hotel in the area for the night before and after so my girls and I have a place to get ready that morning.  (We can't get to our venue until noon.)  But FI said he'd prefers to stay someplace nicer on our wedding night.  So we're staying at our place the night before (or at least I am, he might go to his dad's house that night), then we're gonna rent a room at one of the bed and breakfast's or historic hotels in the area.  My parents agreed to rent the suite since they were gonna get a hotel room anyway, and we'll just kick my dad out around 9 in the morning so we girls can take over.  :)

  • We are staying in a nearby hotel. As with most of our friends weddings, we all get hotel rooms so no one has to drive. We politely request that the hotel bar stays open since the wedding typically end at 11 or midnight. We make sure to tip the bartender so it keeps them happy. Then we all get together for breakfast in the am.

My FI is in charge of booking the hotel and finding the best rate. I've done all the leg work so now he just has to call and work his sweet negotiating skills.
