Ceremony Officiant!?!?!?!?!?!

Ok so my FH & I would really love for our ceremony to be personal and intimate, to focus mostly on OUR vows. We have heard of others having a friend get officiated online to preform the ceremony...Has anyone done this??? Tell me how, I dont even know where to start????
We would like to have either his brother or Father do the ceremony and think it would mean so much more to us as well as everyone else... Wedding is in Clermont county, however we are from Ky so I do not know what laws we have to go by or how to get this started HELP ME PLEASE???

He can become ordained through the Universal Life Church. I believe this is free, or a small fee. He will get a paper in the mail saying he is able to marry people.

Send a copy of this paper to the Ohio Secretary of State, following the guidelines listed here:

You need to apply for your marriage license in the county you are getting married in. He will sign this document on the day of your wedding and mail it back.

Have you talked to an officiant that will work with you - I used Bill Proud and he would have done whatever I told him. I loved that feeling when I was planning with him.

Do you have an information you can share on Bill Proud? I am also getting married in Clermont County and have no idea where to look for officiant, so any suggestions are appreciated!

I used Bill Proud as well, and we really enjoyed working with him.  He will let you tailor your ceremony to you.  Hi website is: http://home.fuse.net/proud5junocom/

Plus, don't you think his brother and father would prefer to watch and enjoy the ceremony?

We used Kathryn Siefert and she did EVERYTHING we wanted and nothing more or less.  We wrote the ceremony and our own vows.  She kicks butt.  She is truthfully one of the nicest, sweetest people ever and is very reasonable.  http://www.bridesofcincinnati.com/

Michaelandjulie pretty much summed up everything I have found on the whole ordaining a friend or family member thing. Jeff and I really want a close friend of ours to marry us for much of the same reasons you do, so I have been trying to research whether or not getting ordained by the Universal Life Church online would be legally recognized by Ohio or not.

From what I understand they would still need to obtain a liscence from the Secretary of State of Ohio before they can marry you. I think we are going to try and call the Secretary of State's office this week just to make sure we cover all of the bases.

Here are some links you might want to look at about Ohio laws.

I have to second Kathryn Siefert.  She rocks! She genuinely cares for all of her brides and will do just about anything to make sure you get the ceremony you want.  There are no adequate superlatives to describe this lovely, sweet, funny lady!

WOW thank you everyone for all of the info!!!

I will check out the links given , as well as the other officiants. As for his brother and father, his brother has already said he would want to do it! He wasnt going to be a groomsmen or anything. His father would be perfect because he is so heartfelt and well spoken, I personally think he would be honored, and he would have the best seat in the house! lol we shall see, if its a huge hassel , we will prolly just go with some random sombody whom has experience. I greatly appreciate all of the responses!!!!

OH- flpr2005 where are you getting marreid at????
