RSVP by email?

My fiance and I are trying to cut costs as much as we can because we are working with a very small budget.  how does everyone feeling about having guests RSVP by email as opposed to mailing in a response.  Has anyone done it by email for their wedding and was your head count correct?  Doing it by email will save us around $300!!!

Make sure all your guests are techxually active! (haha, get it?)

I think it's great. Also consider doing RSVPs on your wedding website.

    That being said...

You could always send out simple STDs asking your guests to visit your wedding website, and use the website to distribute weddin info. Do that instead of an invitation all together. That'll save bunches.

Half of my elderly family members don't know how to operate "that email thing," so you may want to consider also having a phone number that they can call to RSVP.

We have given our guests 3 RSVP options--none of which involves mailing back a card. They may RSVP via our Website, e-mail, or with a phone call. Not only is it a money saver but it significantly reduces environmental impact. It is working out beautifully for us.

I had a friend that did this for her wedding this past summer, and I thought it was such a smart idea to save money!  Just a tip, they also included the mother of the bride's phone number to RSVP to for people who may not be so tech savvy (grandparents, etc.).

We provided our website (Wedding Wire) and a phone number.  No one called us to RSVP; about half used the website.  We only had 50 invited guests, though, so a 50% response rate wasn't a big deal and it required very little effort to track down the missing responses.  I wouldn't recommend it for a guest list of more than 75, maybe 100 if most of your guests are tech savvy.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I say no because it is tacky to me. Yes it is the 21st century but of course I am old fashion.

one of my friends recently got married and did this. it worked out okay. check out this website cocodot.com. this is the one she used. anyway, it is your wedding and if you need to save money do so. just be wary of ppl like me who open email and read it but take the longest or never respond back. the wedding website is a good backup plan.

I have been to a few weddings where the RSVP method was email and I thought it was a great idea!

We are providing two options; one is through our website and the other is a phone number.

Our wedding website is on the knot. I spend all day every day writing, editing, 'zining and blogging so the last thing I wanted to do was create an ambitious site from scratch. It doesn't really show any of our specific wedding ideas but, after much thought, I have decided to start another blog for that. Sigh.

I agree with the other ladies- make it super simple and include a phone number.
