How long is too long?

FI's mom is putting together a slide show for the rehearsal dinner of baby pictures/growing up together stuff.  She informed me yesterday that it is 20 mins long!!! I get really bored easily, but I was thinking it would be 3-4 mins tops! When we tried to tell her that people might not watch 20 mins worth, she insisted it would be fine. Opinions?

If its playing in the background while people are eating, 20 min is ok, but if she's going to make everyone wait to eat until after its over, that's probably a little excessive.

She wanted to do it in btwn dinner and dessert. It would def. be something people with there watch but they would atleast have some food in their stomach. My concern was just people's desire to see 20 mins of my baby pictures- I don't even want that!

But we came to a compromise and will showing it during dessert so people can watch if they want. But I still want to know what people think of the length?

I think it is too long for a slideshow.I think all of the special pics could be shown in about 5 mins or so.People would get bored siting there for 20 mins looking at pics, thats a while.Think about if you were at a wedding and someone did a slideshow, how long would you like to watch it?Your idea is great.Congrats!

I think the slideshow is a great idea but I would definitely try to shorten it a bit.  I think it would take a lot of pictures to fill 20 minutes.

When you put pictures to music you only have each one up about 3 seconds. I don't even want to calculate how many pics she is using. I say let it play in the background and hopefully she won't have hurt feelings when people start to talk over it.

I think 20 mins is really long. I could see 5 mins. I would play it in the background . So everyone can see it if they want  and still be ab;e to eat and talk and what not .

Make sure it's playing while people are eating so you can watch it while eating.  Then you won't be bored.

I think you should change it to during dinner.  People are going to talk during that whether she wants them to or not.

See if you can get it where you show each picture for half the amount of time (or less) it will cut off at least half or more of the time! It should be easy to do to if she just made it on the computer. See what she thinks.

slideshow went great! We told ppl to talk amongst themselves during dessert while it played and everyone was silent and watched. FI and I tried to talk to people and they wanted to watch! The 20 mins flew by!
