Another shower question

Most of my family and many of my close girlfriends live on the west coast, so MOH and I have been talking about doing my shower at my mom's house in St. Pete. However, there's a cluster of gals whom I love dearly over here, and I don't think they'd be able to make it over to St. Pete. Makes me kinda sad. I don't necessarily want two showers, but I would love to get to spend some time with those girls before the wedding, too. (It's maybe 6 gals.) I don't want to bring it up with any of them, though, because I don't want to sound like I want them to throw me a shower or that I expect them to bring gifts if we do lunch or something one day before the wedding. Any thoughts?

    How about do a special night sometime with just them.  Like drinks somewhere.  Blue Martini perhaps?

    oh, and I wouln't leave them of the guest list.  but maybe let them each know if they didn't want to make a drive out there you could do something special with just them. :)

    Probably a good idea to plan some sort of active thing instead of something that could be construed as a shower opportunity. Good thinking... *wheels are turning...*

    You could invite them anyhow saying that it's your MOH and mom throwing the party and that you'd love for them to make it.  If I were a BM, I wouldnt take it as if I was obligated to throw you a shower. 

    The idea of doing a separate girls day locally is a great idea too.  If your local BMs know each other and find out they cant make it to your hometown shower, they might want to throw you a local one on their own perogative.  Having a second shower isn't that bad ... if your friends want to do this for you, let them.

    On the other hand, if you're planning a different kind of girls day, a fun idea would be doing "anti-gravity yoga" which they have available in Orlando.  It's super different .. and experience you'll all definitely remember!
