I have less than 10 months until my wedding, I'm trying to get stuff done as early as possible, but I was wondering if its too early to buy jordon almonds? Do they go bad or is there a way too store them to preserve them?
DH's Greek mom had a drawer filled with the Jordan almonds that she got from weddings over the years. I don't know that I would have eaten any of them but she did. I'd ask someone at a candy shop how long they will keep.
I agree you shouldn't buy and store them now for fear of them going rancid. However, if you want to get it taken care of you can place the order online and arrage it so they are shipped fresh months from now.

Okay, so this isn't about the almonds, but rather a common misuse of a word. You're not "weary" (tired) of something, you're wary (cautious) of something.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

Why even post about something like this when it doesn't have anything to do with the OP? Just to validate that you know which word to use, and the poster accidentally used the wrong one? Yeah, that makes you a much bigger person.
To the OP--I would wait to buy them until a few months out from your wedding at most. They will go stale or rancid, and it's better that you wait rather than serving bad almonds or having to buy another stash because they did go bad! :)

goetz: the reason I responded as I did was because when I'm using a word incorrectly, I prefer to know it, so that I don't do it again. It has nothing to do with trying to embarrass the poster. On the contrary, I would find it helpfu and appreciate learning something newl.
But then, apparently, I welcome constructive advice and criticism, where you don't.

I do appreciate constructivce advice and criticism. But it's usually the most helpful when it pertains to the subject at hand (favors, in this case), not one word being used in the wrong place.
Ah, but sometimes there are what we teachers like to call "teachable moments". It's a moment that isn't necessarily part of the lesson, but becomes more helpful than the original lesson might have been.
Something comes up within the original discussion that merits clarification or discussion, and you go with it. The students still learn, and often learn something more useful than what the teacher's original intent was.
This was just such a teachable moment.
