So the deacon and the father of our church is on my facebook friends. Would it be ok to send them an event request for the wedding on facebook?

I will also be mailing him a Real invite once it's closer to the wedding. Along with the Father of our church.

While I am not a FB user, I hear plenty of "drama" if you will, about FB crap esp when it comes to weddings and being on these boards.

I am going to go with no on this one. I would just send them the regular paper invite and call it a day.

i answered "other".... i guess my issue is i probably wouldnt have friended my priest/deacon to begin with. so, therefore, he couldnt get hte FB invite....

I agree about putting to much on facebook, but if you have only a few friends and most are coming to the wedding it's understandable. I have my priest and a few others as faecbook friends and I send them event invites. I think it's fine.

I put "Other." I wouldn't make an event on FB for the wedding. I think it could get weird if people see it that aren't invited, or you get overzealous and send it to someone before thinking it through, or the invited people start posting on your wall about how awesome it is and then other people wonder why they didn't get it.

I see nothing wrong with being FB friends with your priest or deacon, though. H and I were friends with one of the seminarians and his girlfriend before he enrolled, and we have hung out at the seminary with all the guys. Our priest (and entire parish) is on the younger side too, so we go out to lunch with him after liturgy sometimes. He's on the parish softball team, goes biking with some of the parishoners and we've had him over our house for dinner. Priests are real people, too!

My Events on Facebook are always privet and the only people who can see them are the people invited. I haven't said anything about the wedding on Facebook (besides the Event Invite). I don't post anything about it on my wall or anything. And so far the only peopl who have seen the Event is our families and WP.

The Father and Deacon are very Close with my FL's Family, and starting to get close to me as well.

I am still not sure about it yet but Fl said something about sending them an invite on FB.

I don't see what you're trying to accomplish with an FB event for your wedding. You're sending out real invites anyway, why make an FB event in the first place? I feel like that's awkward for all the reasons mentioned, private or not.

I avoid posting any wedding-related stuff on facebook at all. You never know what can happen when you have hundreds of "friends".......

I wouldn't go the FB route for wedding invites. Too much drama. If you absolutely have to do FB, then put them on a wedding guest only private list, if you know what I mean.

Just my personal experience already (still another 7 months to the wedding)
I leave most wedding stuff off facebook smply because I'm not inviting all my fb friends. I've had some people invite themselves to the wedding through fb and that was when we first got engaged.
It's cool that the deacon and priest are on fb, but I'd leave it off.
Too much drama with people being able to see who is on the guest list and who's not and then being upset about it.
