Oil Spill Affecting Honeymoon

MY MOH informed me that my honeymoon cruise to mexico this oct COULD be canelled due to the oil spill!! Has anyone heard about this happening? Do cruise lines make alternate routes or just canel the trip?

    Not sure, but I would suggest getting trip insurance. AAA sells it.

    Call your cruise line and see what their backup plan is. I would hope they have guidlines for what to do in such scenarios.

    Some trip insurance does not cover the oil spill, so if you get insurance make sure that it covers that. I heard on the news that people were trying to use their trip insurance because of the tar ballscoming up on some of the beaches and it wasn't covered.
    I agree with Aileen- the cruise line will know something totell you

    We took a cruise a little after the swine flu craziness so I kept up on the situation. They generally will not cancel a cruise unless its a really huge disaster. They will just bring you to different ports. That being said, some of the people who had booked cruises to sunny Mexico in late August hoping to get a tan got sent to the Pacific Northwest and Canada where it was rainy and cold. Not a great trade off. I would just check up on the cruiseline's website. They changed itineraries pretty far in advance (in fact, too far) or call them.
