Checks!

Yesterday was a bittersweet day, my little brother shipped out to Marine boot camp in Parris Island, SC.  We have always been really close so emotionally it hit me pretty hard watching him get on the plane.  FI was with my family, so after we said our goodbyes to my brother FI and I decided to try and get some wedding stuff done to keep my mind off things.

Our first stop, Tuxedos.  I really wanted this to be "FI's thing" to do with his best man but we were in the area and decided to check out what they had and ended up ordering!  CHECK

Our next stop, Jewelry store to get my engagement ring cleaned/inspected.  We decided to look at wedding bands for both of us and we both found what we think is "the one"... we didn't purchase them yet so I'll consider this a SEMI CHECK

Our final check happened at home, I was thinking about hair and makeup.  I talked to a friend I went to college with who recently opened her own hair salon and she is available Aug. 25th and said she would love to do our wedding parties hair! UNEXPECTED CHECK, but extremely excited to have that figured out!

Re: Checks!

  • Yay for Checks! & I know the feeling, my dad is over seas right now it sucks not having them around but they will be back before we know it : )

  • Congrats on the checks! And sorry to hear about your brother being shipped out. Hopefully his time there will fly by so fast.
  • Congrats on your checks!!

Also, I know how hard it is to have a sibling shipped out to boot camp!  If you are able to, type letters to him (easier to read) and my FI and I sent his sister a book of stamps so she could write back to people without having to find stamps on base!!

  • Thanks ladies! and sending stamps is a great idea! I'm going to talk to his recruiter and see if that's allowed!
  • Congrats! Sorry to hear that it's a rough time with your brother leaving but glad that you have been able to turn a sad time into productive time. Also, unexpected checks are the best.

    Congrats on your checks!

And those weeks of basic training will be over before you know it...my younger brother is a Marine vet, so I speak from experience!  Unfortunately, you probably won't hear from him until basic is over, but like I said, it goes by fast!
