I'm looking to move my wedding up a year.. Need to find something afforadable

Im been engaged for 6 years and have a son with my fiance. We decided that its about time we make this official and get married! There were alot of factors holding off our wedding planning (school- graduation)
We orginally wanted to have an Oct 2013 wedding but being that I would like to expand my family with another child I was hoping to move up my wedding by one year to Oct 2012. I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas of afforadable wedding venues  that would be fesible to save for within the year.. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks so much!!!
I live in Staten Island, NY and willing to have the wedding in Long island, queens, brooklyn, staten island, and new jersey.
I would like to find a place for $100 and less a plate.
Thanks so much everyone!

I'm going to assume that Staten Island may be your best bet, though I can't help you there, but, I am at the same amount plate/wise, and have been able to do it. Though it may depend on how many folks you are inviting-- (plate rates can go down with more folks). My guest list is about 150 with a guarantee of 130 -- so I don't know if specific places I've found are relevant, but I can tell you, it's all about prioritizing to make a deal. You can often get a better rate if you:
    - Have it on a Friday or Sunday. (Or even a weekday)
    - Do daytime rather than evening
    - Have it off season (December-March, or even August)
    - Limit your menu (I am doing dairy/fish/vegetarian for kosher reasons, but this worked in my favor to get the plate price down)

I am doing mine at Orange Lawn Tennis Club is South Orange NJ.  What helped me get my rate down to $85pp was having it on a Sunday afternoon, and limiting my menu. (And that the catering director is new there, didn't hurt, since I'm assuming he wants to build his reputation there.) I told him where we needed to be, and he told me he could do it with a set menu rather than with multiple guest options. And frankly, I fell in love with the place. I did see other venues that could work in my price range without limiting the menu (ie: Crest Hollow Country Club and Swan's Club both on Long Island), but time of day was too limited for me since they do multiple affairs-- but both are lovely, if that's not an issue for you.

I book my wedding for August 2012 at waterside in north bergen, nj and have beautiful view of the city. We are doing a day time ceremony and reception at the location with 60 guest .  It was originally $110 per person which they worked with us and gave a deal for $95 per person. I had a hard time finding a place due to I only have 60 guest and wanted to getr married on saturday, having a day time help me keep the cost down.    www.watersiderestaurantandcatering.com/

Try Bubby's, which is a fun restaurant in DUMBO overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan bridge. There's also the Green Building in Brooklyn and The Lofts.

I'm going to this event. I heard from some friends who got married last year who attended this show that it was fabulous, so I'm really looking forward to securing some of my vendors at this event!

I had issues with the place I picked for my wedding reception and wound up moving it with only 4 months to plan and pulled it off beautifully. I am from Staten Island and had my heart set on a Sat in Nov but my budget was the same as yours and I was only having 125 people so I was having a hard time meeting Sat night minimums. We chose Buona Sera in Red Bank NJ its 40 minutes to SI. Food and service was fantastic..and the room is beautiful. However we did it unconventional and everybody loved it...We did dinner family style in stead of a coctail hour then dinner. The food just kept coming..I liked that people didn't have to choose between 3 main courses cause they put all courses on the table. Big trays of chicken of your choice, fish of your choice, NY Strip and a pork dish. You didn't miss a coctail hour because they had Antipasta, salad, 2 appetizers & 2 pastas before dinner. Open bar for 4 hours. That package was $80 pp plus tax and gratuity. You don't pay for vendors and children were $15. The place is very impressive and nobody would no that we didn't pay $150pp..its that nice of a place. The most important thing is quality of food, service and entertainment all the other stuff at the end of the day doesn't really matter. Good Luck with your search
