Most caterers have big selections to choose from. How many people you feed depends on how many guests you invite. Caterers can range from $10pp barbeque to $200pp filets w/ an open bar. The opportunities are endless with catering. You have to figure out what YOU want for your wedding and then find a caterer who fits in.

FWIW, I used CN Catering. They're a little chaotic, but the food was amazing. I'm still getting compliments on the Eggplant Parm. Entrees were between $18-$25ish pp and with passed appetizers, rentals and service we were right at $40pp. We provided our own alcohol, but they served it.

Catering companies offer a wide range of menu choices and all types of food and will feed as many as needed. Costs vary widely depending on the menu chosen, etc. Cost can vary from as low as $15-20 pp to hundreds.

Here are some popular ones:
Black Eyed Pea
3 Doors Down
Wendy Krispin
Food Glorious Food
Allie's Catering
CN Catering
Royal Catering

Also if you go with a venue such as a hotel or country club, you will not be allowed to bring in an outside caterer, the venue will provide all the food and beverages. Some venues also require that you choose a caterer from a list of pre-approved vendors.

Are you going to have a cater(er)? Addison Event Center was where our reception was held, and they catered the reception.

What do they serve? They have a variety of options for either a buffet or seated meal. We chose a buffet, and we had grilled veggies, herbed orzo pasta, carved pork loin with a chipotle apricot sauce, chicken in lemon cream sauce, pasta salad, fruit display and bread. Our cocktail hour had passed hors d'oeuvres of crab cakes, greek chicken kabobs and bacon wrapped shrimp. They also offer pasta action stations as an option. Tons more choices on chicken and carved meats as well.

How much is it? $20/pp for the buffet and $5.95/pp for the hors d'oeuvres

Question: Are you engaged yet? I noticed on your bio that it says he hasn't proposed.

I think its great that you are jumping on the planning, but can I suggest this: slow down and enjoy the process. :)
• edited December 2011

Actually you are right, I'm not engaged yet. Right now I would consider planning my wedding a hobby of mine. I've actually been doing it off and on since 2009. I'm just really asking questions about the area that I live in and clipping out pics I like in wedding mags.
