Accountabililty - Thursday

I slept last night... a lot....
I think the meds finally got me to the point I just needed it lol
I planned on going to the gym, but when I got home I took a nap until 5, got up until 7 to have homemade turkey soup and talk to FI, and then went back to bed and didn't get out of bed until this morning....
Hopefully that means I'll be able to start back today :)

How was yesterday for your guys? Eat healthy? Get a good workout in?

For today's inspiration picture I am issuing a challenge, share a picture that shows what you are gunning for, your long term goal if you could do anything fitness wise :)

I personally, want my abs back! Lol So I am going to share one of my fav photos of my dream abs lol

Re: Accountabililty - Thursday

  • well I have been out of commission all week. I popped a rib out of place at kickboxing monday night.  Went to the chiropractor on tues and he got me fixed up but it has been super sore.  I go back tomorrow and will see if he says I can get back to it.  I hope so.

  • I just printed off an online calendar and starting next week my workouts will be all pre-planned (aka when I'm doing Couch 25K, when I'm focusing on strength training, etc). I am starting next week to give myself a few more days to get better and be able to feel out the workout thing...
  • i thought i had been doing well this week, by eating right and forcing myself to eat breakfast lunch and dinner (for a while i was trying to eat ONLY dinner). i've been eating oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch, and a normal dinner. we didn't work out tuesday but we did work out last night and i got in a lot of cardio and abs so i was happy about that. but this morning the scale said i had gained 1.6 pounds from yesterday! im scared and it makes me want to go back to only eating dinner again, even though i still wasn't losing weight by doing that.

i don't know what to do anymore. i'm going to stick with eating all meals for the rest of this week and see if maybe it levels out. it's also almost that time of the month so i think that might have something to do with my weight fluctuation.

i think it also might just be muscle gain, but ugh. i have a body fat tester but i only end up doing it about once a week. it hasn't really changed much recently, i'm still right around 15-16%.

  • Kelly there is a good chance you're not eating enough and your body is going into starvation mode. if you're excercising you really need to up your calories to compensate.

You will gain weight but gaining muscle and your weight will naturally fluctuate from day to day so that may be part of it. But I really don't think you're eating enough.

It is totally normal to gain weight around that time of the month.  Also, as a woman our weight fluctuates all the time.  There is a way to weigh yourself to get more accurate readings, so you might want to look into it online as I'm not sure what it is.  I think you have to weigh yourself multiple times a day.........I don't remember.

Anywho, keep up with the eating healthy and excersize when you can.  You are not going to get results right away.  It takes time, so try to be patient with yourself and relax.  Know that you are making good choices and doing your best.  I do the same thing all the time.  I start eating health and excersizing after a time of not doing either, and I expect to see results in a couple of days.  But, that never happens for me. :(  Please don't get discouraged.  Give it some time, keep at it, and you will start noticing a change in your body even if you don't see one on the scale.

    You can do it!

I did really well yesterday, shake for breakfast, yogurt and fruit for lunch and a yummy baked salmon filet for dinner last night.  No dessert, nothing.  I have PT tonight and hopefully my perfect knee brace is in.  The therapist started me on a new workout in the office on tuesday that made me a little sore yesterday but I love that feeling because it means my muscles are working and it motivates me to keep them going.  I'm excited to get back to Jillian Michaels soon.

edit: Here is my motivation picture.

  • thanks for the support, you guys. i guess i should mention that i have had eating disorders in the past (undiagnosed, but i think 5'4" and 85 lbs. is probably not healthy. my MOH helped me to realize this and refused to be my friend until i got better).  it's a struggle everyday. though i'm at a healthy weight now i sort of hate myself for it. i'd pretty much do anything to be about 10-15 lbs. lighter though that would put me in the underweight category.

  • Sarah I love your motivation picture :)

Kelly - I am pretty open now talking about this, its something I kept hidden away for years... but I had a diagnosed eating disorder for 14 years... I did inpatient programs, out patient programs, the whole bit... so if you ever need to talk to someone please feel free to message!!!!

I do agree with the others that you might not be getting enough cals to keep your body from going into starvation mode with the exercise you're doing. This was difficult for me too. One thing that helped me a lot was milkshakes in the morning... you can load up on fruits and make it all healthy, and at the same time you're intaking some healthy foods and cals.
  • I'm currently waiting for my breakfast to digest so I can go for my run today.  I have to work later, but after work I'll be doing my abs & arms.

Britt- Highly recommend C25K :)  It got me started and now I can't stop!  Running a half marathon in May!  Also, good idea about the calendar print outs.  I do the same thing (and keep them from month to month so when I need some inspiration, I can show myself a visual of all the workouts I've already done haha).  I plan a week in advance, and it really helps keep me on track.  Plus it's nice to plan ahead of time what nights we'll be at the gym because Fi is now working out more regularly too!

  • I mean, I think I'm doing okay? I haven't been eating the best, but I did lose another pound so I must at least be eating better than I was around the holidays lol. I have *definitely* been eating better on the weekends. It used to be a weekend warrior type situation where anything went, but now I try my best to have only one bad night.

I have 7 pounds to go to get back to where I was this time last year. I SO know I can do it.

  • Britt - glad to hear someone else knows what it's like, and 14 years sounds like hell. but i guess it never really goes away, does it? i've probably had "issues" since like 7th grade.

as to the discussion about FI's and working out... my FI is my biggest motivator. he lifts weights and hates to miss 2 days in a row, so we pretty much go 5 or 6 times a week. it's great having someone so into working out. we go to the gym together even though we do different stuff, it's still nice to have another shared activity. plus working out with him is a break from my normal routine and really fun! plus i always get sore afterwards so i feel like i really worked hard. if you can, try to figure out what your guy likes to do. some guys are runners and some guys are lifters, and i don't think they enjoy doing the other one as much. if he isn't really digging running with you, maybe lifting is more his thing.

  • I want those abs!

Yesterday was an ab and lifting day.  I ate okay, dinner was homemade buffalo chicken subs and that was probably on the "less healthy" side.  Today should hopefully be a good day.  I'm planning on getting a run in at the gym tonight.

Kelly - It doesn't ever go away, but I can promise you that it does get a lot better :)

  • I don't so much have an inspiration picture, but I do have a goal.  I was 135lbs when I met FI and gained a bunch of weight to my Hashimoto's disease (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks and destroys the thyroid over time, causing several issues including disrupting the metabolism).  I've lost 30 pounds, but I really want to be back where I was.  I'd love to be confident and be able to wear a bikini for the first time ever (hopefully on the honeymoon).
