Way overdue (long) vendor reviews!

Hi Ladies-

I'm the worst knottie ever!  I know how valuable vendor reviews are, especially on the Cape, so better late than never, right?  Sorry for the length, but here are my reviews from my 9/26 wedding.  We had a fantastic weekend!  Email me with questions. (ks_pc728 at yahoo dot com).  I also have some For Sale items that I'll post shortly.

Happy Holidays, and best of luck planning!

Reception Venue:  The Lighthouse Inn A+

We are so happy with our selection of LHI for our wedding reception.  Bill Sherman and his team are experienced professionals, and everything went off without a hitch on the day of.  We had a more casual wedding, and chose LHI for its ‘cape coddy’ feel.  It is rustic and charming and exactly what we wanted, but I’m sure it is not for everyone.  The view can’t be beat for that price and the food was FANTASTIC.  We did the clambake (which I highly recommend) and people are still talking about the food!!  The best part of this venue was that we could have all our family and friends stay on site.  Everyone loved the cottage set up, and felt like they were in the movie Dirty Dancing!  My husband’s huge extended family rented out two of the larger cottages, and it was so great.  We had an after party next to the Lodge (behind the tennis courts) and they were cool with that…which was awesome.  Overall, LHI will always have a place in my heart!!!

Hair and Makeup:  Oceanside Spa (Brewster) A+

I’m really happy with my selection of this salon for the big day.  We had a 10am ceremony time, so we needed a team of stylists to do me, my bridal party, and my mother at a pretty early hour.  Let me tell you, they were scheduled to be at my parent’s house by 6:15 AM, and they were there by 6:05!!  And what a fun group of girls!  Kathleen did my hair, Cassie and Tracy (I think?) were the other two hair stylists.  Sam did a great job with makeup.  We had a great time, kept the coffee flowing, and they were so efficient and professional.  Everyone loved their hair, too!!  Overall, a really experienced salon who did a great job and the girls were a lot of fun!

Photographer:  Agnieszka Wormus (www.abrilliantphoto.com)  A++++

She rocks my worldJ  Her photographs are fantastic, and she is just the sweetest little thing!!!  She is out of Boston, but does a lot of Cape Cod weddings.  Her pictures are amazing, and she is quick.  She had pictures up on her blog within a week and two days, and a slideshow and all other pics online within 2.5 weeks.  We shared our pics with all our guests, and they are in AWE at how talented this woman is.  We also did photo thank you cards through her, and they were cheaper than anything I found online and such great quality.  Love love love her!!!  One look at her website/blog and I think you’ll know why.

Flowers:  Flowers by Fancy (Meredith Fancy) A+

Meredith knows her stuff…period.  She was such a pleasure to work with, and was patient with me and the fact that I know NOTHING about flowers.  I was stunned by how beautiful the bouquets were, and the centerpieces were fantastic!  She is very creative, and overall I trusted her judgment on everything.  I think the pics of the flowers speak a thousand words!

Videographer:  Sean Mitchell (Let’s Press Play Productions) A

We recently got our video, and Sean did an excellent job.  He is a young easy going guy, and his prices won’t break the bank.  We wanted a video, but didn’t want to go over the top.  Overall he was great to work with, especially on a budget.  I know Knottie Melissajoy used him for her wedding earlier this year, and she loved the final product.

Transportation:  Trolley’s by Tes (www.trolleysbytes.com) A+

I’m so happy I went with a trolley for the bridal party and so happy I went with Tes.  Recommended by another Cape Knottie (Harwichbride maybe?  Whoever you were…thanks!).  Everyone loved the trolley and loved Tes.  She is a classy woman who loves weddings and loves driving that trolley; she is fun, and her trolley is gorgeous!  She is also helpful…she helped me into the church and fluffed my dress before walking down the aisle. The trolley was seriously a highlight of the day.

Church:  Federated Church of Orleans (East Orleans) A

We chose this church as it is right down the road from my family’s summer house (and my parent’s current residence).  Not to mention that it is a beautiful old church.  They were fantastic to work with; Marti in the office was a pleasure to work with.  We did have some bumps along the way with ministers changing (due to health concerns) but they found us someone who ended up being the perfect fit for us.  My parents are now becoming members of this church, and we love it!

DJ:  A family friend DJ’d our wedding, and he was great.  But I can’t really recommend him since it is just something he does everyonce in a while.  Sorry!!

Wedding Dress:   Sabella Couture, downtown Boston A+

If any of you girls are shopping in Boston for your wedding dress, go to Sabella’s.  Located on Tremont across from the commons, Maria and Christina are the BEST.  Their dresses are gorgeous quality pieces, and not that pricey!  Maria is the seamstress and she really knows her stuff.  Best of all, these ladies are so fun and I looked forward to going in for all my fittings.

Rehearsal Dinner:  The Land Ho, Orleans A+

Since our wedding was ‘off-season’ and we had our rehearsal dinner on a Thursday night, we were able to rent out the whole newer bar area of “the Ho”: the Captain Abbott Walker Room.  We had the whole area to ourselves and instead of a sit down dinner, it was constant appetizers galore!  The food was delicious, the bartender was so fun, and the jukebox was pumping.  A great night overall, highly recommend if you are off-season!  My family has been going to the Ho for years, and I’m so happy we got to have our RD there.

Groomsmen Attire:  Jos A. Bank (Framingham):  A

The groomsmen wore khaki’s with a navy blue blazer, and after doing some research, we realized it made more sense to just purchase these items rather than rent them.  The guys agreed that they could always re-use both pieces, so we went for it.  The people in the Natick/Framingham store were great; we went as a group, and were in and out the door in less than an hour.  Prices not bad…just be sure to hold out for a sale!

Vendor reviews are SO HELPFUL - thanks!  That is great to know about Oceanside.  Our ceremony is at 1130 on a Sunday and I was wondering if I'd have trouble finding a salon.  Also already knew I love Meredith Fancy!
