The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station

We just came back from a tour at The Riverhouse and we absolutely loved it! Its only the second venue that we looked at but it was perfect (: Has anyone gotten married or been to a wedding here? I would love to hear the feedback!!

I'm getting married there in October.  We absolutely love it as well.  I really like that they do only one wedding at a time.  The staff has been helpful, pretty quick to respond to questions.  We had one minor issue with them promising that we could have a vegetarian option in addition to our 3 meat entrees, for 4 total, and then later telling us that we could only choose 3 total.  But we cleared it up and we're allowed to have 4, which was a huge selling point for us.  So in the end, it wasn't a big deal!
I had heard nothing but good things about it from other people who had been to weddings there.  Excellent food, great staff, beautiful surroundings/building.  I've tasted the food at our tasting already - delicious!

Glad to hear that youve had a good experience so far! I loved that The Riverhouse is so new and that it has such neutral and tasteful decorations. Our biggest problem is our budget. We had our heart set on a Saturday evening wedding; however, I'm not sure that will be possible if we choose The Riverhouse. The other preference was getting married on the Sunday of a holiday weekend but they are all booked for 2011!!! Did you reserve hotel rooms for your guest? If so, where? We live quite a ways from The Riverhouse so we are not familiar with the area.

We had originally wanted a Saturday evening wedding, but the minimum guest count the Riverhouse wanted was more than we wanted to have.  So we are doing Saturday afternoon, starting the ceremony there at 11am.  Now, I'm actually really happy we're doing the afternoon.  The surroundings are so pretty, that I'm glad we'll be able to see them during the whole reception, rather than having it get dark out during it.  And having the sunlight come through the windows is really nice, too.  -  Just something to think about!  :-)
We booked rooms at the Waters Edge in Westbrook.  It's about a 20-25 minute ride.  There are some other hotels in Westbrook/Old Saybrook and some in the Middletown area that are about the same distance away.  We are just planning to get a bus to transport guests.

I was in a wedding there just after it opened in 2008. It was nice- I liked how big the room was, but I didn't think it was anything special. The bride had her ceremony at a church in Rocky Hill, and everyone stayed at the Marriott there- they had party busses back and forth. No pictures were taken their either- so I honestly only got to see the bridal suite, entrance hall for apps, and reception room and deck. And it was at night- so it's really just seeing the inside of the room.
