Newly Engaged!!

I am just recently engaged as in 2 days ago... I cannot wait to marry my best friend!!  I am super stoked and need some suggestions on reception venues. We are looking to have our reception covington/cincinnati area around the beginning October of 2012!!  Does anyone have any suggestions for venues or feedback on places that they might have attended a wedding?Any suggestions would be much appreciated !!

    Congrats! I am newly engaged as well and getting married in October in Covington/Cincy. I can't really suggest for you though, do you have a budget in mind?

    No budget yet.. we are comparing venues and then setting out budget... I live and work out of town... so this is going to be a very tricky process. I am only home on the weekends... but it will work out. I am not worried.

    Figure out your budget and approximate number of guests first, then look at venues.  This way you can get a venue that will hold all your guests and not break the bank.

    Definitely think abotu guests first. That will determine where you should look. Girls can suggest a lot of places if we think you're having 100 people but if you have 150 they may not work. Budget too. Lots of places have minimums that you have to reach.

    for starters:
    The Manor House
    Devoue (?) park
    Weidemann Hill Mansion
    The Madison
    GOLF COURSES
    Bell Event Center

    These should be good places to start!

    My reception is is the Madison and I can say they have been absolutely amazing to work with so far! We also loved Receptions-Erlanger but couldn't book there because of a schedule conflict...Good Luck!

    Congrats! I'm getting married next Oct too! My venue is the Museum Center...I live near Cleveland so I feel your pain lol! I agree set the budget and have an idea of how many people so you know everyone will fit and you can afford it before you fall in love with something!

    Congratulations! I went to a wedding this weekend that was at the Phoenix, it was gorgeous! Maybe you could look into having it there?

    I second everyone saying to figure out at least a close approximation on the guest list first. You may find your dream venue - thinking you'll only have 40 guests - and then realize you forgot everyone's kids or something.

    I'll give some shout-outs to my venue - Embassy Suites River Center - in Covington. I'm working with Shannon and so far everything has been AMAZING. They give a lot of extras - such as chair sashes - with their packages.

    I'll give you a heads-up though..,food and beverage minimums for a Saturday night there are 6,000 - we went with a Saturday afternoon for a 2,500 minimum.

    Welcome!

    We had ours at Receptions Inc.  The food was great and we loved the convenience of their all-inclusive packages.  They've got about 5 locations to choose from.

    Congrats! My advice is to not fall in love with a place before you are sure of a few things, most importantly....your date! I just saw a friends beautiful pictures from a weddding at The Oasis, but those outside pictures would not be nearly as cool if it was winter or in the dark at 6pm!

    I just went to a wedding at the old Contemporary Arts Museum and it was beautiful. I was very surprised that this venue existed in Cincinnati and I had never heard of it. The new owners did some renovation and renamed it - they are calling the place - The Center. I talked to the event planner and she said they've only held 3 events here so far. We're looking for something unique so we're booking! Lots of availability it seems like, as they just opened.
