I had to share...

FI & I have been together for almost 8 years and have been engaged for almost 2. This morning I received the following Facebook message from someone who we've known for almost 7 years, but have lost touch with over the past few.

Are you really getting hitched next month? Thats awesome, about time you made an honest man of that big galoot. though really you've been an old married couple for the better part of a decade. I'm sad that i've been so out of touch. It's not a shotgun wedding is it with a little one on the way?

SERIOUSLY?!? Why would you even say that? I don't even know how to respond to that!

I can see how maybe it was sarcastic humor, but i still find it very inappropriate. I would be a bit insulted too if i were you. If I hadn't been in touch with someone for years, this is not a joke I would make. The only response I would give is to laugh it off

It is his terrible sense of humor. I guess it's more of why would you even say that to someone you hadn't talked to in years?

I joked with FI this morning that I was going to reply with: Yes it's a shotgun wedding, I'm going to give birth to a one year old (since we've been engaged for two years)

I agree that it sounds like immature humor. I wouldnt say your infertile (unless you are) because then you dig a hole if/when you get pregnant later and this person catches wind of it. But I would say something more along the lines of "Yes it's a shotgun wedding, I'm going to give birth to a one year old." or I would just completely ignore it and laugh it off.

Well, I have a friend who was told she was infertile, and lo and behold she has 2 children after adoping 2 and they were totally unplanned.... so really, nobody can actually tell you you're totally infertile with 100 percent certainty.... unless you don't have ovaries and a uterus.
