We are starting to plan our honeymoon and have no idea where to go. We know we want to go somewhere tropical (probably in the Caribbean) to just relax and be pampered. Any suggestions on location and/or resorts??

It really depends on your budget and how long you'd like to go. Do you want to lay on the beach or explore the area? Is all-inclusive important?

We would like to stay between 5-7k including airfare. All inclusive would be nice, but not 100% necessary. And we want to lay on the beach

Each place is a little bit different.

We're going to Excellence Riviera Cancun. It's an adults only resort. We've been to Excellence P*nta Cana and loved it. I know several people have gone to an Excellence resort and been very happy.

We went to Secrets Maroma Beach in Riveria Maya, Mexico in May. It was amazing! The beach was awesome. Food was great. I wish we could go back right now! We also went to Tulum to see the Mayan Ruins and did another excursion. We are not the type to sit on the beach for a whole week, but if you are I think this would be a great place. I really had no complaints at all.

We went to Hawaii (Maui) and absolutely loved it. We wanted some place tropical and relaxing, some where neither of us have been before (I've been to lots of places in the carribean) and we figured we will not want to go to Hawaii again any time soon becuase it's too far to drag kids and if we have this kind of money to travel again it would be to Europe.

The total including airfare and everything came to about $7k for one week.

ditto Mandy... we just got back from 9 days at Secrets Maroma in Riveria Maya and it was amazing!!! we paid just under $5k including airfare. the resort, fodd, staff, room, everything was perfect!

Mandy and Cutie- I'm looking into Secrets Maroma, but I'm so confused on the pricing. What's the difference between Best Available Rate and Standard Rate?? Did you guys book online? My fiance is obsessed with this place now! Thanks!

Lauren - I did not book online, so I am not sure the difference in the rates on their website. I booked through VIP Vacations and we received an airport transfer and had a conceirge that helped us book exursions.

We decided to do the Preferred Club. The room was closer to the beach (and away from the noise closer to the lobby), we had a quicker check in that was in the preferred club check in lobby not in the regular lobby. There were computers that had internet in the preffered club area and they had a bar with some foods out at most times of the day. We did utilize the area but I am not sure it was completely worth the extra money. It was our honeymoon so I am glad we did the extra but I don't know if I would choose the preferred club again.

We did the honeymoon package too which actually came with 7 nights in the preferred club. It included champagne and fruit upon arrival, 50 minute swedish couple massage, and a romantic dinner on the beach. We have never had massages and it was amazing! The spa was really amazing. They had you go through the sauna and hydrotherapy area, then the massage. It was so relaxing. And the romantic dinner on the beach was so nice - food was great, service was great and the view was amazing.

Sorry I am rambling now. But our honeymoon was even better than we had hoped. Also, tripadvisor has so many reviews of Secrets and those reviews were very helpful to me.

I just got back yesterday from Secrets Maroma Beach and it was wonderful! All we wanted to do was sit on the beach/pool and drink and eat good food! It was not your average all inclusive. We didn't spend the money for the preferred club and I'm glad we didn't. We talked to several other guests about how it was a waste of money. We had a swim out suite which was really nice. Check out ruelala.com. It's like groupon, but they do some pretty amazing vacation specials. We used this for our honeymoon because we were on a budget and it was great. They range from pretty inexpensive vacations to some highly discounted over-the-top vacations.

Lauren--I went on an all-inclusive in Aruba and I could not have better things to say about it. AH-MAZING. The weather is gorgeous. 90 degrees every day, and there's a constant breeze, so it always feels like it's 75-80.

We stayed at the Occidental Grand Aruba. Food was good... rooms were gorgeous. We booked through Apple Vacations, and we got to check in and out on the 9th floor instead of at the front desk, and we had breakfast brought to our room every day. The whole thing was a little over $5k which included 7 nights, all meals & drinks, and roundtrip airfare. We flew out of Newark instead of Philly because it was cheaper and we could get a direct flight from Newark but not from Philly.
