babysitter gift

We have a sitter who is with DD every day after her 1/2 day program. We're giving her a $50 gc but want to give her a gift as well. Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Re: babysitter gift

  • age? budget?
    Praying for a miracle!
  • She's in her 20s, going into a masters program in the fall, $50 budget, doesn't drink. I only see her in jeans and hoodies.
  • my go-to for college students will always be manicure/pedi gift card. i know you said $50 gc, but to me this is a splurge that broke college students could use.

my other idea is a pashmina from the stands you may pass each day on your way to the train. I LOVE those.
  • Not a bad idea, Wzz. $10 pashmina might be it.

  • The pashmina is a good idea

FWIW, I usually put GCs in a small bag full of holiday candy. A little impersonal for a babysitter like that, but it works well for people I don't know well, like the postman and all of the people at our old daycare.

I think I'll do the same this year for the new daycare, though the GC amounts will be higher since I don't have to buy 10-15 of them.

  • I'm doing $10 GCs for her new therapists since we've only been with them for 6 weeks.
  • you should send a bag of coal to the former PT. or a $2.35 gift card to mcdonalds.

Or a flaming bag of poo.

I'm not sure what I'm getting my sitter yet.  I always see her in sweats and stuff since she's working with the kids, but I know she likes shoes.  I may get her a DSW GC and a few bath and body works things (that I also know she likes).
  • I'm a sitter/nanny and one thing I have received that I loved was a framed picture of me and the baby.  I've also been full time with the same family since the baby was 5 months old, so I'm pretty attached, but it was still really nice to get that (along with a gc, but the picture was the best part).

Also, not really related, but is it common for baby-sitters/nannies to wear sweats to work?  I bring a pair in case of some sort of emergency (being pooped/vomited on) and change into them when we go to gymnastics and ballet classes (mommy&me type classes).  I have never even thought about wearing sweats all day, and it sounds amazing!
