Florist Budget?

So - nobody answered this on my local board....so I figured I would ask here too.  We live in the Houston, TX area if that helps ;)

We are tossing around the idea of silk verses fresh flowers.  I have an appointment with a florist on the 25th of this month.  She asked me to have a budget in mind, and a color scheme in mind.  I've got the colors figured out....but I have no clue what to even begin at with a budget!  I will be needing my bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 10 bouts, and 4 corsages.  I am not picky on the type of flower.  My only preference is no carnations.  At least not a full bouquet of them.  I think they are pretty, just not want I want my entire bouquets made out of.  The colors are white and a blush pink.  What do you think would be the lowest I could go on a budget for this to keep it reasonable?

Re: Florist Budget?

  • If you are only needing personal flowers, you should be able to do those for $500 or less I would think.  If you are needing centerpieces or other decor, then of course it goes up from there.

FWIW, from what I've seen on the boards here, high quality silk flowers are almost as much as fresh.
  • It also goes up depending on the flower.

  • I booked my florist to do my bouquet, a toss bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 4 corsages, 4 boutennieres, 16 centerpieces potted plants, delivery, and set up for 540. I was planning on 350 for the bridal party/parent flowers, but my florist would only book a wedding for a minimum of 500. I originally was going to buy the potted plants myself and assemble and set up the centerpieces myself, but know I can save myself time and stress since the florist is willing to do it for me for a very good deal.

    That is a great deal!
  • I agree with the others, often silk can be  just as expensive as real flowers.  I like real flowers becuase of their smells ;).  If you are concerned about your budget, make more than one consultation and shop around a little.  Then you have something to compare it to ;)
  • Our florist is a family friend, and my old boss.  She said she'd do it for us for cheap, but to make sure it really is a budget wedding, we're trying to keep it between $500 and $750 for flowers.  We need 3-4 corsages, 5 bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, and 6 boutennieres.  Plus the flowers for the centerpieces.  Keep in mind what kind of flower you use also makes a difference.  That's why as much as I love peonies, we aren't using them.  Plus you can always use greenery or something like Queen Anne's Lace to take up space and compliment the flowers.
