Caterers?

We're looking at a reception venue that doesn't provide catering. I originally thought about just doing the food ourselves but google searches provided tons of brides saying it's too much of a headache, especially with having it kept up to temperature and all that. So now I'm trying to find caterers in case this is the option we go with.

I'm looking at a venue in the Vermilion area and have looked into Sterk's Catering already but wanted to see if anyone knew of any other places or restaurants in the area that are available. Also, one of the caterers I looked into said they'll prep the food and then you just have to pick it up and take it to your location yourself for $2 less per person. Does that sound like it would be a feasible option? Or do you think that would still be a big headache?

Re: Caterers?

  • I should of covered this in my PM to you lol We're using Grid Irne Catering out of Medina.  Very budget friendly.  We're doing a buffet of bbq food, 2 meats (one is chicken, prepared 2 different ways so I guess 3 meats), salad, several sides, pasta and rolls, etc, plus paperwear for about $14 pp.  I had a hard time even getting a response from Sterk's, the people over at Grid Irne tho have been so so nice and accomodating.

  • We are using Old Carolina Barbeque. Their pricing starts at I believe 11/pp and goes up from there depending on how many meats and sides you want. The food is phenomenal. We went to a free tasting and have since gone back twice just to get their food from the restaurant. THere are SO many different options for you, my consultant, Roberta, is amazing. They have different consultants for different areas. But I have eaten at the OCBC in Stow and Kent and been super satisfied with both. My FI and I even plan on taking his aunt and uncle back. The meat is smoked, even when reheating the food it tastes just as good and you can still taste the smokey flavor. You get 4 different bbq sauces at your wedding, and they give you the left over food (if there is any lol). Sorry to go on and on, but we love them and are happy to have "different" wedding food.
