Dr. Jazz vs. Joe Simon's Jazz Trio

Any info on either?  We're having a smaller (75ppl) ceremony and reception at a restaurant and we're trying to decide which band to book.  I've seen Joe's at a wedding, as well as at Commander's Palace for brunch, but have no experience w/ Dr. Jazz.  Dr. Jazz has been so responsive, though (emailed for info this past Saturday and received a CD of their music today in my mailbox!).  If we booked Dr. Jazz, we would probably go w/ just a trio and possibly the vocalist.  Has anyone used either one?

We're using Dr. Jazz.  Unfortunately, because the wedding isn't until May I don't know how that decision will turn out.  They came highly recommended by my venue and a lot of girls on here have used them.  I just got good vibes from them; plus "Dr. Jazz," aka Russell Steele, is a medical doctor (for real) and I just feel like that indicates a certain degree of professionalism and integrity on his part.

I've never heard of the trio, but if they were the same people I heard when I went to brunch at Commanders, they are good too.

I will be booking Russell in Aug.  I met him at the airport and he was very sweet!  I think he will do a great job!

I had the pleasure of having Joe Simon's band play for my wedding and reception!  I had a literary Dixie theme for my wedding and wanted to have classic New Orleans Louis Armstrong style jazz.  They did a wonderful job.  Almost every single person at our wedding commented on how wonderful the band was.  They played a very sweet version of La Vie en Rose for my walk down the aisle and knocked out a great version of A Kiss to Build a Dream On for our first dance!  Don't waste money on a DJ....nothing can ever replace the fun and spontaneity of a live band.  Band leaders Joe Simon and Vic Shepherd were delightful.
