Sandals Negril in Jamaica - REVIEWS?????

Casually looking around for our honeymoon, saw some nice rooms in our price range at the Sandals Negril in Jamaica - anyone been there? I'm just a little apprehensive to go to Jamaica...I know there are horror stories everywhere, but it just scares me a little! Wondering what you all think!

We are going to the Sandals royal Caribbean in Jamaica. Yeah I also heard a lot of bad thing about Jamaica but that's why we choose Sandals. Because it's all inclusive you can stay in the resort and never have to leave the comfort of the resort. I hear it's only dangerous if you leave the resort. I'm very excited for your honeymoon. We got one of the butler rooms so we can be pampered.

I've been to Negril 3 times (it's where we got engaged), and we never had a problem. It's our favorite place to be :-) We never stayed at Sandals, but I would recommend Couples Swept Away. We had an amazing experience there, and we will definitely go back! It is literally ALL inclusive. We went snorkeling and went on a glass bottom boat ride, both of which were included in the overall price, and this usually isn't the case with other "all inclusive" resorts. Room service is also included! We got breakfast delivered every morning.

I've traveled quite a bit in the Caribbean, and Negril is by far my favorite place to go. I'd be happy to show you some pictures, but if you check it out on Trip Advisor, there are tons of traveler photos.

We are going to Jamaica, but to Couple's Tower Isle. They just did like a $45 million upgrade or something. I researched like crazy. What I found was, there are lovers and haters of Sandals. The thing I didn't like is that they have like a class system. So based on what you pay for your room, which ranges hugely (if that is a word) in price. So then if you are in the expensive rooms you get to make reservations and do certain things before people in the cheaper rooms. I don't know, that just rubbed me the wrong way. (Maybe this isn't accurate, but I read it a few places)

I read a million reviews and the Couples properties never really had bad reviews, but Sandals has a lot it seems. Sandals is older too than some of the others. I know Tower Isle was just upgraded.

I have heard Negril is great though, we just chose our location based on the resort so we will be in Ocho Rios. Hopefully that helps, check out the Honeymoon board and Trip Advisor too, they were very helpful when I was looking!

Carman - I definitely have been thinking that too, since it's all inclusive, it should be pretty safe! You'll have to write a review when you get back =] Hope you have so much fun!

ken - thanks for the rec! I'll have to look into it! Glad to know that you like Negril so much...if you don't mind, could you send me some pics? I'll PM you my email and if you are willing, go ahead and send whenver you have a chance!

sgylling - I'll have to look into that hotel too! If that's true about Sandals, thats horrible! That rubs me the wrong way too...definitely not right.  Thanks for the advice!
