Hello, and thanks for letting me lurk!

I just got engaged in February, but the wedding isn't until Fall 2013. (I know, so far away, but it gives time for a beautiful ceremony!) I'll probably be lurking around just to see some ideas on what the brides now are doing. Not setting anything in stone because wedding ideas do change within the years, but for now I'm saying hello.

    Welcome!  2013 is so far away, but that gives plenty of time for planning and saving (if you're paying for your own wedding)...but kudos to you girl!  I don't think I could hold out any longer than I am.  We did 20 months (got engaged in October, getting married June 2011) and that is seeming like forever lol

    Congrats!! Welcome! You'll find everyone here very helpful. 

    We are having a 30 month engagement (2.5 years) and I am almost at the 1 year mark! I'm living proof that you do eventually get there! Many girls on here have had 2+ years.

    To be honest, I don't recommend this long of an engagement. But, we are doing it more out of necessity then choice so we are making it work. I imagine it's the same for you. I don't like to feel rushed so on the bright side I get to research, make lists, and be my type A self with interfering with anyone else's plans. It's nice to have your choice of vendors pretty much open.

    Congrats on your engagment and welcome. So much help you'll find here. Don't worry it will creep up faster then you think. We got engaged July 08' weddings this August and it FLEW.

    Welcome and Congrats!!!

    We had a 30 month engagement, and we are down to 23 days now! It does go by fast, especially the last year. The advantage was that we booked all our vendors over a year out (most between the 1.5 and 2 year mark) so we were able to breathe easy for most of our engagement.

    We have a 2 1/2 year engagement!!! Time really does fly!!! I am really enjoying the long planning process, it is giving us time to really do things they way we want them and we booked really early! We got all 2009 pricing, I highly suggest doing this as well!!

    Aw you all made me feel really welcomed! Thank you so much! I'm trying on wedding dresses for now, once every month just to look around and see. So far so good! Also, the long engagement is for the wedding. I want it to be really nice so the long engagement is a plus. We also agreed that by the end of the engagement we'd hopefully be in a better job situation, and also for the wedding to be something that came gracefully and not rushed.

    For now, I'll be looking into catering, DIY ideas for decorations, accessories and other things. Also, in october, it'll be 2 years until the wedding (At least I think so. October 27, 2010.) It's also really great to read on other brides wedding ideas and reviews on venues. It's kind of like a try before you buy thing.
