October 2012 Weddings

First Dance, Check!

Ugh, AT LAST! It took forever, but FI and I finally settled on a first dance song! We're using Book of Love by Peter Gabriel. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nZGv8VTBVE )

And of course, FI made me dance with him to it in the living room, just to make sure it was the right one. We were BOTH in tears, so I guess that's a yes! I'm going to have to do something to desensitize myself between now and the wedding so I don't ugly cry in the middle of our reception. Industrial strength mascara, anyone? LOL...

Do you ladies know what you're doing for your first dance yet? If so, share!

Re: First Dance, Check!

  • We're doing a split song, lol.  Something cute and romantic- 'HoneyBee' by Blake Shelton- then after a minute (Just long enough to be sweet, not long enough for me to cry!) we'll switch to Rocky Horror's "Time Warp".  FI even agreed to do the Time Warp dance :)))

  • Rockstar, that idea is made of win. I was strongly considering inserting a Rickroll in the middle of our first dance, but I love the song we chose too damn much to interrupt it! There will definitely be a Rickroll later in the reception, though...and now that you've given me the idea, I may just need to add Time Warp to my must-play list as well.

  • We're doing Frank Sinatra's The Way You Look Tonight.  I found a really upbeat version that I absolutely love

  • FI had told me that we couldn't have Time Warp because his friend S played it at her wedding.  I asked him, "Did she and J have their first dance to it?"  he says, "No."  I said, "Then that's our first dance song, and she can suck it."

    I'm mean lol.

  • We're battling it out. We were going to dance to Van Morrison's Moondance, but then FI decided he wanted something more romantic and less sultry. What's wrong with sultry?!? Anyway, we've been through waltzes and classic jazz/ swing, and claasic rock and indie rock... nothing. At one point he wanted to waltz to Tchaikovsky! I was a little worried he might not get over that. Sometimes I think he's even more old-fashioned than I am :) At this point, I bet we'll end up right where we started.

  • Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.  We both love the song and it's so us!  We actually started dance lessons this past week to get some choreography for the song and learn some nice ballroom dance steps for it.  We didn't want to look like cheesy, awkward jr. high slow dancers for 4 minutes.  LOL.  I didn't think FI would like the dance lessons but after our first lesson, he told me that it was more fun than he thought it would be and then asked when our next lesson was.  Haha.  :)
