Looking for venue, green lawn palm trees next to beach

I've been researching like crazy trying to find a venue for our very small wedding. The hotels and plantation houses are out of our budget for our small ceremony. We will only have 6-10 guests, a minister, musican and the two of us.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Olowalu Plantation House set up, but we just cannot afford to pay that price for a 20 min ceremony. Our reception will be at a restaurant or luau. Several of the restaurants suggested on other posts are nice, but don't offer that same look I'm searching for.

Ideally the space would offer lawn + palm trees + ocean view + sunshine look that I'm searching for. A view of Lanai or Molokai in the background would be a bonus too!!!

I'm completely open to a condo site, estate, restaurant etc.

Anyone have any suggestions? We have to set this before we do anthing else including setting our date. We know that March of 2013 is the month but other than that I have nothing else confirmed.

Did you look at Gannons? I know they have 3 different sites outdoors for ceremonies and some have views of molokai, etc. Five Palms in Kihei is also right on the water and does ceremonies or there are other restaurants like Mama's Fish House in Paia or Merriman's in Kapalua.

  • We are using Gannon's for our reception. Intially we were going to marry there but decided we really wanted the beach. We will only have 12 to 20 guests and will still have a reserved area, decor and flowers. The nice thing is it is centrally located. To be honest we have not eatin there but eveyone who has gave it great reviews.
  • Check out Merriman's Restaurant. The grassy overlook's site fee is $500.
  • Thank you for the suggestions. I've looked at all of these prior to this post because they all came highly recommended on other posts.

Each is really pretty, but none of them seem to be "the one" for my fiance and I. We are however looking at these for the dinner/reception following the ceremony.

  • Have you decided on a hotel to stay at for that night yet? Why don't you see if any of the hotels have a lawn that you could use. I know that the Makena Beach and Golf Resort where we stayed for the first part of our trip had a few beautiful spots to get married.
  • The Westin Villas also has a nice little grass spot that is right next to the beach that is perfect for 15-20 guests.
  • I'll email both hotels and ask. Thank you for the suggestions.

The hotels that I have heard back from were super expensive. Even for just the site fee. Since I'm doing my own flowers, booking my minister, photo, video & music, the site and chairs are really all I need. One of the catering managers told me if he were me he'd just get hitched on the beach and save the cash for more Maui fun LOL He was so sweet!  Too bad my heart is set on a lawn overlooking the beach. (I just adore the flowers in the bright green grass!)

  • I hope you find the perfect place! We're still looking too! We've been checking out VRBO's which would be perfect..but we're worried about the cost of chairs, food, tables, DJ, etc. let me know what you decide to do and if you have any advice on affordable vendors. Thanks! Kellee

<div>This.  We are having our ceremony and reception here.  It's got great reviews and the prices are reasonable as long as you keep it small.  They will organize everything for you there.</div>
