Am I the only one who loves the Washington winter?

Maybe it's because I'm a transplant from SoCal, and this is my first time experiencing a real winter, but I am loving it.  I had dreamed about a fall wedding, but ever since that weekend before Thanksgiving --I'm sure you Seattle ladies know what I'm talking about -- I have been fantasizing about a winter wedding. I imagine a floor length antique lace gown, hair in soft curls, wine colored lipstick, and snow on the ground with a backdrop of all those gorgeous green trees we have here, and toasting with warm apple cider(there will be no alcohol at the real wedding). It sounds so romantic. ahhhhhh I feel all warm and fuzzy and a craving for warm apple cider just picturing it :)

Sorry for the random post, I just felt like sharing my little daydream

Kevin and I are planning our wedding in Seattle for December of 2012.  Both of us have lived in Seattle our whole lives, and my only advice for planning a winter weather in Seattle is that just like the summer you can't depend on the weather.  (I just walked the dog and it's 50 degrees ouside.)  If you want snow think about Leavenworth or something, though then you would have to worry about Stevens Pass being passable.

We are getting married in the winter for totally selfish reasons, we want to honeymoon in PV Mexico right after our ceremony and Mexico seems like a waste in the summer.  We are planning a big receptiion the following spring.

I am not a fan of winter weather in Seattle. Being from the east coast and going to school up in New England... this is sooo not a real winter.

Also, not to be a party pooper, but don't count on snow in Seattle every year either. Usually it's like the last two days: fairly 'warm' (relatively), in the late 40s to mid 50s, overcast and gloomy and drizzly.

That said, a winter wedding with the snow and all can be done. I think I saw a spread in Azzura's blog from last year where the couple had their wedding up at Snoqualmie and then snowboarded down the mountain in their wedding attire. :) It looked pretty awesome.

While I love to hang out by the fireplace when there's snow outside, I have to admit that winters here got to me after a while. I've been here 11 years now and have to say that I was ready to move by year 6. But now we have a cool fireplace so I guess I wont' cry about moving somewhere warmer.

Oh yeah I get that planning on snow in Seattle would be a miss, pretty much counting on any weather would be I found. (Those forecasts are never right). But -Oh my a wedding in Leavenworth does sound lovely. Last time I want it was August two years ago when I was visiting Washington, and it was one of those odd days where it was over a hundred. It seems it would be so much nicer in the snow. and all of that architecture would make for some beautiful photos.

You may want to check out the Moon Mansion, they are in Northbend. Not completly sure how much snow or how often they get inaccessable, but they are super nice and will answer any questions. I am getting married there in Oct! They have a georgous outdoor and indoor area for a ceremony/ reception. They have a tent up until Oct that is a great reception area. I fell in love with the place as soon as I drove up.
